Yes, i know i posted a topic on losing belly fat & now posting a topic on weight gaining foods......Here's the story:
Simply what happened was i was getting too lean. I want a bigger chest and if i continue cutting the carbs it's going to take years. I also want bigger shoulders and arms. Not massive just bigger. I am a slim build, always have been since a teenager and since lifting people have noticed the muscle gain but i would like to be a little bigger.
Here's what i have been currently consuming to try and gain some weight (mostly just getting back on the carbs wagon):
- White Rice - White Bread - Pasta
I've been upping my portions on cottage cheese and whey protein. And still eat my daily intake of fruits and veg.
But, and i know some of you will be disappointed when i say i have been eating, burgers, fries and pizza. Not alot but considering i was on like 50grams of carbs per day before it is a signficant change in diet.
I am experimenting right now and will do this for a month. This is my second week. If nothing changes or what i'm doing is working but want more gains i will do for 2 months max. I don't want to do it for too long because i don't want my belly to get out of hand (since i'm still currently trying to lose my gut fat)
So Let me know other foods that will help me gain weight peoples.

According to eatingwell website, top 5 foods for weight gain are potato chips, potato, soft drinks, red meat and processed meat. Gaining weight is more fun than losing weight but less healthy.

i won't do the soft drinks but the rest i can. Currently i'm just eating alot of rice and white bread. Also been drinking these things called "Up n Go" which is a sweet milk breakfast drink that has close to 100g of carbs/sugar. Also chocolate.
It's hard going from 2 years of no carbs to low carbs to getting back on the carbs all together. Tastes good but the joy isn't really there anymore. I'm not too committed at the moment as it's a big transition as i did change my lifestyle around but i gotta put the weight on within a month and i'm about 2 weeks into it.
I have no real direction to this and haven't the time to research atm so i really do need some of your help.

- I have really attacked my body with carbs. from Bread, Cakes, chocolate milk, chocolates, shakes and chips.
- I have also been eating rice 2 or 3 meals daily.
- On top of this i have been on the junk food almost daily also. Mcdonalds and KFC meals.
- I am doing heavy weights and have done no cardio.
It seems i haven't really put on that much weight but i can see and feel my gut getting bigger so something is happening. It's almost been a month so i may have to go for another month.....
For that second month i will have to watch out on all the junk i'm consuming and eat more of the better/healthier weight gaining foods such as broccoli and other green veg, will have to eat more red meats also.
What other healthier foods are great food weight gain?

hard to give a proper rundown without seeing what you look like but it sounds like you're bf% would be through the roof
Ignore those 'old school' articles you read in Muscle and Fiction type magazines about bodybuilders embarking on ridiculous off-season bulk ups where they eat anything and everything in sight .. It's a recipe that'll turn you into a fat ass ....
I've been there and done it - added 10+ kg (22+ pounds) over the course of 9 months or so on "bulk ups" and while I naturally felt a bit stronger in the gym, I looked soft and my bf% ballooned to 22%
Wasn't until a couple of years ago I started working with a top natural bodybuilder that I totally transformed my approach. I went to this guy expecting him to put me on programs and nutrition plans that would help me get bigger, but instead he put me on a bodyfat reduction regimen with a view to getting my bodyfat down to 10% ... That experience completely opened my eyes in terms of what should go in your mouth and when.
Within 9 months I'd reduced my bf% to that target number (lost about 8kg in doing so and most of my muscle measurements remained pretty much identical to when I was heavier and bulking (bicep, thighs, chest etc) ... But the real kicker was I actually LOOKED bigger because I was so much leaner and everything stood out .. I also felt so much healthier and tighter / more functional.
So the moral of this story - I think you would be far better served reducing your bodyfat levels dramatically in the first instance to around 12-15% or lower if you can .... If you can do that, I wouldn't mind betting that you'd be so impressed with your appearance that you wouldn't even want to bulk up ... However if you do, it's simply a case of slowly adding slight increases to your daily calorie intake .. that might be as simple as adding two or three servings of brown rice per day or another slow digesting carb and or 'good' fat source ...
Forget about the junk food dirty bulking bullshit .... you won't get big like a horse, you'll get fat like a pig

Jive_Turkey - A calorie is a calorie, just face it, it doesnt matter where it comes from, so he can eat all the junk food he wants if that we he wants, just as long as he keeps track of the calories he gets. Stupid post is stupid by you man.

A calorie is a calorie, but with "bad calories" come fat and sugar and no nutrition. Thats the point. 1,000 calories of ice cream, or 1,000 calories of a steak and eggs with veggies/fruit is NOT the same.....
get it?

A calorie is a calorie, and thats a fact you cannot change. So lets say, you need 3500 calories to break even, then you will lose weight if you eat 3300 calories, and then it doesnt matter if those 3300 calories comes from pizza, ice cream, candy or whatever, it doesnt matter at all. However when wanting to build muscle or stay healthy, its important that you also get your macro nutrients and your micro nutritents, and that means you need to keep a proper diet. But, you can lose weight by living of ice cream, its not recommended at all, but it is possible.
