For some reason it was one of the first things i replaced when i bought my house, i guess because the other one ddin't work and it was a cheap replacement, but i'm about to remod my kitchen and can't see why to install one. It's not like it's any value added to the kitchen
never liked using them, i think they ruin the taste and texture of food, and i love food. Iprolly used mine twice in the last year to pop popcorn, other than that it just sucks energy for the clock

Microwaves suck, in my opinion. Like you said, ruins the texture of foods.
I do use a toaster oven about 3-4 nights a week. I use it to cook my chicken breast it, and its perfect. Throw it in that bad larry after working out, and let it cook while I'm showering...perfecto

Love the microwave. I have a little kid, though. So it helps heating up a quick snack or kid meal. But, I use it mostly for re-heating. I love the frozen vegetables they have in a microwave ready steam bag. Just put them in and hit start. Perfect veggies. I don't do micro popcorn. Heat soup, Micro. As far as cooking meat, eggs, or anything like that, no way. I think it does add more value than just a range hood.

I've never liked them, well except maybe when i was a kid and they were a new thing
remember the company that made the microwavable burger w/bun, french fries, and milkshake?

also, as i've updated this house, i try to eliminate electronics that draw a charge 24/7 even when there's no need for it. Put kill switches in all the rooms that i've re-run the electric etc
I'm sure it doesn't sound like much, but that micro sucks power like a mofo all the time, and for what? two bags of popcorn all year?
My boarders do use it, but they can learn to do without. it's normally just a go to place to hide their leftovers so the 150 lb dog don't jump up and help himself

Maybe it's some mental hangup against microwaves, but i never have used them. I'm perfectly fine eating leftovers cold. People always look at me like i'm uncivilized when i tell them multiple times i am ok eating it cold and no i don't want to nuke it
SO i don't use them, they are an energy drain, and i think they look klunky and dumb. my kitchen sq ft. isn't huge, so i'm gonna leave it out

all bags are "ready steam"............. the "magical" ready steam bags are a rip off. Can put a bag of anything in the microwave and it steams.
Or pour it into a bowl and cover with saran wrap.

Fried, Toaster Ovens are hands-down better. I don't use my for toast, obviously, so theres no crumbs. It's a mini fucking oven....things great.
You ever have pizza reheated in a microwave? Compare that to a toaster over......honestly no contest. Can you cook chicken breast in a microwave... Nope.... No contest, imo

I think for what you pay for a micr wave and then what you get out of it, it is worth the value...
I have a pretty big kitchen and alot of space under cabinets for appliances of that size... so for me having that and other appliances is very convenient... I could see if you have limited space and need to pick and choose what you had room for that microwave may not be on your priority of appliance....
I use the microwave not only to reheat food, but often times to boil water quickly...
If you think about the actual science behind the microwave oven, boiling water is actually what it is for... not for cooking...
