I am trying to lose weight again also. I did it about 2 years ago when me and my girl broke up. Very simple. Trust me, I lost 60 lbs in 5 months. I went from 249 to 187 at the lowest, in 5 months. And im 5' 10" Eat around 1400-1500 calories/day. No eating past 7 PM...no eating until 7 AM. Nothing deep fried. Lay off condiments. Red meat was never a big factor. I still ate red meat and lost it. No Fast Food AT ALL!!!! NONE!!! Drink water all day continuously. Cut out pop unless you drink booze like me and the drink I found that works is bacardi and diet coke. Theres like 65 calories in one drink which isnt bad, or michelob ultra. Now back to the daily diet plan. Eat 1 piece of fruit as soon as you wake. Eat a small lunch (salad w/ light dressing no ranch or can of soup or sandwich w/ light mustard and only 1 piece of bread etc...) Now me, I hit the gym right from work. Hit the eliptical for like 20-30 minutes on level 12..moderate pace, you will burn about 375 calories, then hit the bike on level 8 for 20 minutes, about 5 miles, you will burn about 150 calories....then I hit the ab machine and do about 100 regular and 40 on the love handles, then do the basic weight stuff, biceps, triceps, etc...and the last thing I do before I leave every day is the treadmill for 5 minutes and thats a days workout. Takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes/day....I stopped working out after me and my girl got back together again and put back on about 40 of the 60 I lost....so Im hitting the same routine again....or if you dont have a gym membership just start jogging in intervals , 2 minutes fast 1 minute slow and stagger it back and forth...thats how I started the first time before i got a membership....TRUST ME THESE METHODS WILL WORK...

you need to eat a bigger breakfast, take in more calories early in the day..eat small meals about every3 hours,i eat alot of dry tuna or plain slices of turkey..i also recommend more weight training(it actually burns more calories then cardio) and i would end your workout with atleast 20 minutes on the treadmill...5 minutes on the treadmill is useless..the reason you put that weight back on is because you didn't take in enough calories while you were working out and as soon as you stopped i assume you took in alot more calories..you can take in more good calories as long as you work out,,your muscles need food, after everywork out you should have a nice protein meal or shake..usually grilled chicken for me

Congrats on your success.
The amount of calories someone should take in is all relative to their BMR and activity level. For most people, going below maintenance by 500 is plenty, but it is true that really fat guys can go lower just because the body has so much fat to eat. Still, 1400-1500 is far too low for most people.
Going too low can cause the body to go into fight or flight and really hamper your metabolism and disrupt hormone levels. Eating small meals more often helps this. Eating right before you go to bed is perfectly fine as long as it fits in your calorie intake. At night, slow-digesting foods like cottage cheese, milk, nuts etc. are best.
I made the mistake of wanting to lose "weight" as fast as possible... I do so just a bunch of it was muscle until I started doing it right. Take it slow, keep protein intake high and lose mostly fat.

1500 calories in "healthy" foods/calories is actually quite a bit of food if you pay attention to nutritional facts. And the only reason I do 5 minutes on the treadmill before I leave is to keep my heart rate up before I leave which carries over to my dinner as soon as i get home which consists of barbeque chicken and more vegetables or some kind of lean protein. I actually do hit the weights for about 45 minutes while im at the gym. 3 sets of 15 on 5 different machines. I have not started dry weights yet. Within a week I could fit into a pair of boxers that didnt fit me the week before. Plus I have an executive job now and im not as active during the workday as I was 2 years back when I delivered drywall all day and was constantly sweating and working my muscles, so thats why I actually stay at the gym longer now than before and actually eat a lot more healthier than I was before when I lost it.

keep up the good work but if you can do 3 sets of 15 it means you are working out with weights that are to light for you...you are beeter off doing 3 sets of 8-10 with weights that you struggle with as long as you keep your form...the worst thing people say is i am working out with light weights just to tone up or burn more calories,....you burn more calories buy using heavier weights with less reps

Eat 6 small meals a day, consisting of about 400-500 calories a meal. The average chicken breast without skin is around 400 calories....a bowl of brocolli and 1 hard boiled egg equals 400.You can mix and match, but just try to eat every 2 or 3 hours.Drink at least 80 ounces of water, and even a gallon if you can.Seriously...it works. With 6 small meals, your body is burning fat and is always fueled for energy.Fried shrimp is right about the box jumps also.

1500 calories is a healthy amount of calories if you're a semi-active 5'5" 120 lb post-menopausal woman.
The average guy would lose close to 3 lbs a week eating only 1500 calories and working out 5 days a week. That's too much weight and you'll lose muscle.

If you have any boxes can jump on top of that would be great.
If you EVER wanted a damn good ab workout, I recommend the box jumping, or stacking something up of similar stature that can support your weight and just keep jumping onto it to the point where you feel the burn!

- Cardio in the morning before eating. - Eat lots of protein - No bread\rice\pasta - Drink tons of water every day - Try to relax, stress can cause weight gain.

If at all possible this is ideal.

I've been in San Diego for the past week and it did not help, I'm back in town, it's so hot outside that truly nothing even sounds good to eat, i had a very small bowl of pasta with veggies, and i brought veggies with no butter and strawberries to work for lunch, i think 1500 cals a day is good because i do nothing at my job and when i get home there's the kids, i don't feel like going to the gym any more with my current eating habits i was 205 before i joined, the problem is my eating, i binge eat, all day can be going great and then like magic i eat something stupid, then i feel like a fat fuck for it, and i end up eating more, and it repeats everyday. once i eat something stupid i tell my self i will start to diet tomorrow and then the day goes to hell.
