Matchbook is dead, gone to USA customers. There are plenty of threads talking about the bullshit of this move, but bottom line it's history.
Vanzack has suggested Betmaker as a suitable substitute for peer to peer wagering. Let's use this thread to discuss the in's and out's of this market based book.
I looked at it earlier, and saw the NBA markets had thin action, maybe $1000 to $1500 in each game. Now I look at 3:44pm and all of the markets are empty?? Anybody chime in to tell what is going on here...

i'd never heard of betmaker before yesterday but obviously things have changed. i may throw a little money in there to test it out. i'd like to see this thread go some distance so we can get some feedback. is there anyone who has had, or has, money in there?

plan on trying out betmaker myself , i see where some folks are saying not much liquidity but i am gonna give a shot , with it being an exchange should get best juice and accepting u.s. should increase liquidity now that we have lost matchbook . i mean even if you say liquidity is low wouldn't you want to get best juice possible then fill remainder of the action you want from a sportsbook

I agree. It has every reason to start to grow big now... with MB gone, and being backed by CRIS (Vanzack says so - it's not even listed on SBR???)
They will earn a very good or bad reputation here on the covers board far before SBR gets around to giving them a rating.

what do you think is with the 5 college basketball games when there are 50 lined games?
Clubdirt.. matchbook was never good for college basketball. The lines were always too far apart unless it was an espn game. 5dimes is always best for ncaab.
It looks like NBA is doable on BetMaker, at least better than the other books as far as odds, particlarly near gametime. Their second even third rate web design though is kind of off putting. I don't know if they're ready for the big time, but nonetheless it looks like the best option for nba and nhl so far.

gameto, i agree mb wasn't very good for college basketball but at least they had a spread and a total for each game. you had a chance to get a good line.
i don't play nba so i guess the true test is baseball. and if it's good for baseball, it should be at least decent for college and pro football.

Let me clarify a few things for you. Reading comprehension or truth telling dont seem to be your strong suit....
1. No posts have been "pulled" by me or covers. Please.
2. I dont even know who you are, but if you were telling people to pull out of MB it was not based on anything you knew, but was conjecture. Nobody knew the MB news until close to midnight the other night.
3. If everyone pulled out when you suggested they did a couple of months ago, they would have missed a couple of months of good wagering at MB. There is no harm done by staying. Everyone is getting paid.
4. I am right here, still saying MB is safe. Why is or was MB unsafe?
5. You are a dope.
6. I did not suggest betmaker was a "suitable" replacement as the original poster suggests, and I did not endorse them as you suggest. I simply said to watch them. They are an exchange, and they are run by the biggest book that is available to americans. I remember when I started pointing out MB to people back several years ago, I got the same responses - but you morons have to understand I have nothing to do with these books, just posting what I see.
Carry on.....

Good call Vanzack... I've been using ehorsex.com for a couple of years and liked it for horse race betting. Their handle was very low and hoping that Betmaker is going to be helped by Matchbook leaving the USA. Anyway i will be putting a small amount into Betmaker.com with the hopes that they will benefit from all the players on Covers getting involved.

Only two games on the ticket for today's NBA action... the markets look similar to what they were yesterday. Most players can get down for lower vig than any other alternative.
I will keep updating the markets liquidity in the NBA ATS markets. It has been noted that the NCAA hoops markets suck, for those that exist. But MB was never a great market for these as well... so low of handle for a market with plenty of liquidity, except for marque games of course.
I would now expect that the markets will be useful for NBA ATS sides, MLB ML, and NFL of course come next fall. Other than that I would not expect too much liquidity.
I am anxiously awaiting any reports of how deposits are handled, and more importantly, the withdrawals when anybody can please chime in with their experiences.

it would be nice to keep this thread going for people to report their experiences. i'm not opposed to putting a small amount in there to play around with during baseball season.

I opened an account and deposited with betmaker the day after matchbook went down to us customers. They only accept WU/Moneygram deposits from us customers which is good. Customer service was friendly and the funds were in my account quick.
BetMaker is just like matchbook if you are betting under 500 bucks a day. You can find great deals for under 100 a pop, but you'll have to wait until a few minutes before gametime to get any serious money down for a reasonable price, and even then about half the games are unbettable. I like the site so far.

thanks gameto. it's certainly possible that those issues get better as more MB people migrate over to betmaker. i'll probably put some money in there before april. i guess i'll use western union. i've never messed with money gram.

I doubt Van knows any more about Betmaker than he did about matchbook. If you have questions about the liquidity, the best advice is to observe the liquidity and determine if it will meet your personal wagering needs.
Most importantly to me is to observe how their customer service treats US customers, how they handle deposits and withdrawals, etc. Van mentioned that they are owned or backed by CRIS, but I have not seen evidence of this as of yet. Betmaker is not even listed on SBR at this time. This a truly a speculative book, with potential to be a suitable replacement of matchbook if they handle their business correctly.

hey there , just sign up for ehorsex.com and i was just wondering if there is a large market there ? I thought I read that betfair and ehorsex are own by the same company is this true? That would Be BM?

I just wrote to betmaker using the email address provided on their website. Below is what I sent, and I will post any response I receive from them to this inquiry:
I am writing you as one of many loyal fans of matchbook.com,
who recently pulled out of the USA market. I am also one of hundreds
of many very interested sports wagerers that regularly post and share
ideas on covers.com
forums. Betmaker is a very little knows peer to peer wagering format,
offering low vig for value minded players. I have a series of questions
about betmaker, and I would appreciate some answers before playing. I
am also happy to post your responses on the forum message boards, as
many others are also curious to learn about betmaker.
1) It has been rumored that Betmaker is affiliated or owned by CRIS - please elaborate.
2) What are the most convenient ways for deposit and withdrawal of funds.
3)
With the departure of Matchbook from the USA market, is betmaker
staffing up and embracing this opportunity for rapid growth?
4) Betmaker currently has no presence on SBR, why is that? And will you soon try to get reviewed by SBR?
Covers.com
can be an excellent way to get in front of a significant crowd of
potential new accounts. I would suggest that somebody from from
betmaker management look to create a profile on covers, and begin a
campaign to educate and inform potential new players to how you conduct
your business, and what exactly betmaker has to offer the US players.
I thank you in advance for responding, and look forward to learning more.
