The way I see it, if a trial happens and this whole situation can be put behind us, then there may actually be hope of a future bailout after the fact (and assuming they don't end up rotting in jail). Am I incorrect in thinking so?
Apparently Beted is in a "lay low" mode. Until when though? Forever? What are they waiting for is basically what I am asking. If there is no actual court date and no sign of there being one and if the DOJ is content with what they collected, what damage would agreeing to a bailout have on the Beted owners?
I am not saying that there is no damage or anything I am just asking as I am unclear on the situation.
Unfortunately Dude, I haven't had much contact with those guys in the last week. They are definitely laying low.
From talking to some lawyer friends, the general consensus seems to be that the betED situation could go two ways...
Because of the much bigger and looming poker indictments, the most likely situation would be for the DOJ to choose to get the betED situation wrapped up and done quickly - especially since it's kind of an embarrassing situation involving a 2-year investigation that only resulted in the indictment of a relatively unknown sportsbook and another minor figure.
The other possibility would be for the DOJ to sweep the betED situation under the carpet until the poker situation is completely wrapped up, and then deal with betED afterwards. That would suck.
That's all I really know and it's pure conjecture.
Following the path of a bailout could definitely have negative legal consequences. Completing a public bailout indicates to the judge that you that you are not being remorseful and are trying to continue the illegal activity even after being charged. Yes, it sounds ridiculous, but that's what would probably happen.
I'm not going to comment on the Calvin bullshit other than what I posted in that other thread.
I will however, relate a story from a friend of mine who was in the Coast Guard. He told me that when a ship is sinking, there are two types of people:
1) Those that are strong and try to help others.
2) Those that stand on other people's shoulders to save themselves.
