I opened my own "handicapping service" in 1984 before the online sportsbook era and closed it a year later because I couldn't handle people lossing money and the stories of losing families and worse from clients . Before that I did the handicapping for a service in Long Island, NY owned by a guy they called Jaba the Hutt, and Stu Finer was one of the guys on the floor.
Anyhow, if your number was given it has been sold to every tout service out there.

bizkilla, a very entertaining thread!
may I recommend a solution? the next call you recieve simply explain that "you sell picks" not buy them, they must have their wires crossed, "I would not change your phone number" (this could result in many problems) continue to do nothing more than "bust their balls" or better yet, start calling them back, with picks for sale; believe me, it will stop!

Bingo! If you want to get someone or some business back for scamming you, just send out their e-mail address or phone number to these useless parasites called touts.
As far as your own situation goes, quit answering your phone if you do not recognize the number, as voice mail will save you if it happens to be someone else. Otherwise, you may strongly consider changing your phone number.
