I am not a believer in the current interpretation of the second amendment and do not support the widespread "right to bear arms" rhetoric from a constitutional standpoint (just ask SS we have gone round and round on this). That being said, this sick F&CK dressed up with a bullet proof vest, gas mask, long coat (i.e. like Bane) and walked up and down the isles and open fired on anyone and everyone (as mentioned including children). This has NOTHING to do with gun control and instead some sick F&CK. What if this guy wired the theatre with a bomb and killed everyone. Gun control would have not curbed this guy unfortunately.
Truely a sad event and I just think about all the kids that was so excited to see this movie and have it end this way. Heartbreaking!
Law-abiding citizens who choose to carry firearms are not roaming our streets searching for targets of opportunity on which to use their “acquired power” to kill. They are just ordinary people who feel the need for self-protection. There are probably some who do it just because they can, making the point that they have the right to do so.
That does not make them anymore dangerous than citizens who do not carry firearms. It makes them considerably less dangerous than most people who drive vehicles.
