5k to 50k

So i'm planning to quit my job to take a shot at sports betting and poker.  I will be moving to Las Vegas before March to do this as payments are faster and there is cheaper rent. I  will have about 5100$ after the plane ticket,taxi, and first months rent.  I plan to bet 1-2% of my roll each pick.  and bet .01% on parlays as i would like to strike a 7-11 team parlay.  I'm starting here with a 0-0 record but my previous one prior to signing up was 60%+ with a 11team parlay hit.

Who are some notable handicappers in this community?

thats a risky path man. leaving yourself with 5k isnt much.. id want to start something like that with at least 50k so that if i start going bad there is plenty to fall back on while i looked for a new job. the way you sound is as if you have no back up if you lose it?

Wish you the best!!!! But you said parlay!!! Will kill you.. So take your mind off parlay, pm me I have some one in Vegas place bets for me.. We don't win a lot but we don't lose.. But get the parlay of your mind .. Do only 2nd half on nba ....

I planned it out and i pay 350 for rent(including utilities), 150 for food(oatmeal,bananas,protein powder,eggs,canned tuna) and 60 for toiletries, 60 bus pass.  I only need about 570 a month so i need to make atleast 12 units anything after that is profit.  I have a 5k roll for sports/poker but i do have a side $ untouchable that is 8 months of living set aside.  Plus the roommate i found claims he is a constant mlb winner and will let me ride on his picks.  I'm pretty sure this is better than flipping burgers as i am no where near close to finishing my degree and just need to do something with my life already.  Plus my mom already charges me 400 a month which is a lot for me.

I appreciate the cheers from you guys i will keep this updated on my progress.  I cant wait! :D

i tried similar things twice, and it didn't work out well.

u gotta be extremely disciplined to make it happen there.

don't forget that bankroll management is everything.

5k is not nearly enough. I suggest you need enough to cover your first year of living expenses before placing one bet. Two years would be better. Living month to month off your gambling earnings is not wise.

You forgot to include health insurance in case you become to sick to move after a bad night and need medical attention.

You will realize gambling for a living is harder then working a real job, focus your time money and energy on something else and bet sports for a hobby

With a 5k bankroll (that is also supposed to cover your expenses), in all honesty, you might make it 1-2 months before you go busto. Just the honest to God truth, may not be what you want to hear though. One bad run of variance and you are probably done.

I wish you good luck but think you really need to step back and re-consider this decision.

First two things that came to my mind which were said multiple times already

1. 5k isn't enough to take a shot

2. Parlays should not be in the plan of someone turning pro

Try to think intellectually over emotionally as much as possible.

I was thinking the same thing.

You should get a job for at least 40hrs a week even if it is flipping burgers. It will be supplemental income coming in along with health benefits.

Play single games instead of parlays and build up your bankroll.

If you are good at capping you will build up your bankroll be able to quit that job.

Protect that cash from your roomate borrowing it chasing some MLB picks..If he is letting you ride his picks,he shouldn't really need a roomate in the first place?

Keep working and paying mommmy the $400... I am sure she cooks,cleans, laundry etc 


Deposit some money into a online account say ( 1K) and go play some poker at the Indian casinos or something 

if you get upto 20 k ... then think about it

You better add another ZERO to that bankroll if your serious.
I'm thinking of heading out for 3 days with my 5k bankroll.
Sorry but MOVING to sin city with 5k ? Are you clinically insane.
Where you gonna rent for $350 crack side of town ? 
I'll tell you where this story goes.
LaGuitarra will be broke in less than 60 days and will either leave town or be turning tricks for cash in the old city.

Yes, move out there and get a job....quickly.

You will make friends with your co-workers and you will not feel so alone in a completely new setting.

Ply your betting systems at night and on the weekends.

Odds are against you...But thats what they said to Bill Gates and Henry Ford.
