After El Chapo will the government ever get serious about war on drugs

The war on drugs was a joke. There isn't a war on drugs and never was when you have government employees letting them out of jail for money or helping them escape.  Article came out yesterday El Chapo had help escaping.  Really?  And from who the government?   If they really wanted to stop drugs they would say anyone caught in possession of any narcotic automatically gets put in prison for five years.

There is no war on drugs when the head of a prison or like in New York people for the jail helping them escape. 12 People helping them escape? In Mexico they fired that head of the prison.
Let me ask you this what happens when they help them? That one New York guy killed a sheriff Orozco got shot and killed by a guy they let off on cocaine charges and another charge you can go on and on.

Government employees help these people then they turn around and shoot them dead.  Sure the money sounds great today but do you really want to let those people out when they are going to be shooting at you tomorrow?

 Those are the kind of people the government decides to help? Really?   I wouldn't help people out for any amount of money that are going to be out on the streets trying to gun me down the next day.

Cash and asset seizures are #2 in govt revenue, #1 is the IRS.

Alllll about the cash and guys like Guzman keep that cash flowing.

Getting serious about the war on drugs looks like this ....yesterday President Barack Obama commuted the prison sentences of 46 drug offenders...that's pretty serious ...No ?

Like I posted before "nonviolent drug offender " is an oxymoron..their is no such thing ,, drug users hits family's hard ,, can tear them apart, ruin lives ,wreck friendships and destroy careers ...

Maybe we should just change the name ..instead of the "War on Drugs" ..we should called the "Fight Against Drug Use."

Not only can drug addiction lead to suicide, but there is clearly a connection between substance abuse and mental illness as evident in the recent events of mass murders ..

without the "drug war" this economy takes a major hit. and I mean major.

80% of drugs move from Maexico to the U.S. We love our drugs, we need them and there's not a thing anybody can do to stop it....ever.

The Chapos stimulate economies folks. They provide resources and funding for poor countries, children, the poor.....it goes on and on.

Like it or not he's valuable and jailing him means absolutely ZERO. All operations thrive whether he's locked up or not. Man is a corporate tycoon. Escobar had to be shot, Guzman knows why.

Agreed but do ya know how much revenue our prison system generates to encarcerate drug offenders? A shitload, and way beyond what shows up on our tax bills.

Prisons  Drugs enforcement and seizure. Jobs.  Federal income/revenue.  health care .........we can go on all day.

It wouldn't cost that much to house these drug offenders /sellers like Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been doing with law breakers for over 20 years ..he uses an open-air jail with military tents. The same tents that our military troops used in the  Korean War and Iraq.

If they are good enough for our fighting men/women they are good enough for prisoners who have broken our laws..

Only if the gambler is constantly on the wrong side of the Mendoza Line.........

Agree but It's not about human compassion in our judicial system for people that need help and are losing their lives and families, we all know that. Sadly it's about revenue. Doesn't generate that then we're on our own. Seizing degenrate assets isn't profitable.
