    All kinds of various career paths are going to become MUCH less lucrative in the next 5-10 years.

    Doctors, lawyers, actors, writers, Web and software designers......and many dozens more. Much of those tasks are/will be replaced.

    Start training your kids  to punt with either leg.....and throw left handed.

    To add.....

    Everything.....EVERYTHING will be tracked. AI will know what you think and do before you do it.

    Embrace change......don't fight it.

    @IntenseOperator

     Agree completely. Silicon Valley knows where this is going and they are proposing a UBI for all.

    It’s crazy how many people lose it when a UBI is mentioned.

    Anyone want to live in a world where there is 75% unemployment?

    Why do you think Zuckerberg bought an island and is building a bunker?

    @jpitty

     I know Elon has expressed a lot of fear about the future. Especially AI.

    i think he’s now being realistic about that snowball coming down the mountain

    @maxwagers781

     it's not a matter of replacing

    AI will augment that and other industries greatly. It will affect income and career path decisions for many.

     I’m not letting any computer take over my job if I was threatened. Would never happen.

    This isn’t rocket science.  Find a few AI ETFs and invest.  When AI stocks skyrocket you’ll be along for the ride.  You can’t beat them but you can join them and profit.  Then you can tell the corporate fukks you work for to take their slave jobs and shove it.

    Absolutely it will happen.  It is already assisting in emergency surgeries and robotic surgeries are routine.

    Many advancements have been made in assisting surgeons and making surgery more effective and safer.

    Here is a good article that points out a portion of what is already currently going on and what some see in the future:

    @Raiders22

    Probably many years before human workforce in certain industries become obsolete. We need start learning how to deal with it and work efficiently with AI. It’s supposed to improve productivity. Not intended to erase jobs.

    man i love those self checkout kiosks at the grocery store. you could get yourself a nice piece of delmonico steak for the price of a fuji apple. an_popcorn

    the number is exaggerated and the machines are not as widely accepted as you think. but, they're here to stay for now.

    For the cost of a cashier Walmart gives away more shiiit then Social Services.

    Can AI pick 12 seed winners in the NCAA tournament?  I'll never be replaced.

    I think it will do both -- to a certain extent.

    Like the ole buggy-whip analogy.  When the car was invented, that job went away.  But things improved from riding horses everywhere AND other jobs around the new technology were created.

    When the cell phone was invented folks no longer needed the telephone repairman, installation guy, phone book printing, etc.  But now you need people to make cell phones and sell them, etc.

    The automated assembly line did away with a lot of line workers.  But now you need PLC programmers, people to install the machines and maintain them, etc.

    The intention is not really to do away with jobs but to make things better, quicker and more efficient.  You might see it someplace where jobs are done away with -- like automating the fast-food worker.  But it is to make things easier and quicker and cheaper.  But there will always be jobs created around the new technology.

    Now some folks will have to adapt and maybe change their job skill set(s).

    Intended to reduce costs. Whatever form that comes in.

    Labor is the number one part of payroll.

    Yes, it's big picture game is to reduce jobs.

    Apples and oranges.

    Now

    AI will/can do everything. Including new tasks/skills.

    What then?
