The National Association of Realtors is the scummiest of all scum. Find something to do for work that actually helps other people, rather then utilizing the government as a monopolistic tool and fucking people over in order to earn a buck. Realtors provide zero value to the economy, and even with their whole four hours of certification, they somehow reap these huge rewards, for merely standing in the way of the transaction with their government protected hand out. Fuck them, they will soon be rendered a thing of the past. As Real Estate furthers its decline, people will come around to see that their commission is an unnecessary tax, and they will be eliminated. Rightfully so!

I agree with this somewhat, but in order to eliminate them, you have to have a population willing to put in the time and the effort to replace what they do. Searching for homes that meet your requirements.....scheduling visits.....submitting offers.
Bottom line is they fulfill an administrative function that many aren't interested in doing.
I've seen a ton of people attempt to sell their home on their own. Doesn't always work so well.

Take it easy there man holy hell. From what I have read, buying a house with out a realtor is kinda like going to court with out a lawyer. You can do it, but it's a lot harder...thanks for the rant though. I don't think my ethics or morals should be in question here. You made it out to sound like I was trying to defend Jerry Sandusky or something. Thanks any way man...BOL

You can finish the classes in 2 weekends around here. I forget how long each class was but I know there was only 4 of them. Texas doesn't offer that?
Anything in sales can sound real good in theory... You're in a good spot though because you're young and you don't have any major bills/responsibility.
Go for it... I can't think of any reason not to.
Thanks Detox, I currently live in NC though and I haven't yet found any classes where I could just knock it out over the course of a few days. I agree, I think that my situation is optimal in doing something like this with my youth and no real responsibilities at the moment. I am definitely leaning toward giving it a shot.

hire a real estate attorney for your transaction then. You are contemplating joining forces with one of the most corrupt guilds in the history of man, you sure better hope you don't have any ethics or morals
Taking the whole 8 hours of training to get certified isn't a bad idea, if you are going to buy a house, that way you won't have to pay a realtor because you will be licensed and have access to MLS. Getting into bed with those scum to 'make a living',,,,is another story.
Nut Flopper is a good dude, i'd wager you won't find him here defending the ethics or morals or value of Realtors

Was surprised to find myself in this thread near the top of the general discussion. Feels like an eternity ago. Did real estate pan out for you? I pivoted to the commercial side not long after this thread and have been doing it ever since. Good job for gamblers. Bet on yourself and put in the work. The market is crap right now with high rates and unrealistic sellers unless they have debt on the prop. Now would be a time to get in and set yourself up for when the market corrects itself in my opinion. Tons of old guys are retiring and younger agents/ brokers going back to selling cars etc

I believe it's an opportunity to position oneself for when the market stabilizes. Always bet on yourself and your hard work :)
