The men were killed for who they WERE 10 years ago, not for what they were at the time of the killings.
They were rehabilitated. One of them found art and started teaching arts. The other became a pastor, and started a charity, cooking classes for the inmates, philosophy classes etc etc.
I don't condone what they did, but why kill them? Why not put a shovel in there hands and make them work for 12 hours a day 6 days a week to help fix the roads etc etc?
What good are they 6 feet under?
Also, the Indonesian government is the very definition of corruption. The government takes a so called hard line stance against drugs, yet the prisons are fully flooded with drugs with officers turning a blind eye in return for money.
Stories have also come out that the judges asked for $130k in return for a lighter sentence.
If the government is so concerned about the effect drugs have on society and how they destroy lives, then why don't they also make alcohol illegal., which also destroys several lives. Tobacco related deaths also exceed drug related deaths. Why don't they ban tobacco?
The reason? because they make revenue off alcohol and tobacco...That's whats it all about...money and political motivations. They don't care about people.
The Indonesian government comes out and says you have to respect our laws, it is there laws, hence no clemency, so why on earth are they asking for clemency from other presidents and prime ministers in countries where Indonesians are facing the death penalty? HYPOCRITES.
That's all what they are about, $$$$$ and political motivations. Well said

These guys smuggled a bit of dope. They did not rape a child or kill someone. Does the sentence reflect the crime? I think not.
No, it doesn't. But that's exactly why you shouldn't go into their country and commit a crime, because then you're playing by their rules... fair or otherwise.

The people who support the executions should be executed. Heroin, opium, morphine, and cocaine used to be sold over-the-counter without restriction in America.
The death penalty deters no one. What it does is gives more power to cartels. The higher the penalty... the more revenue the cartels generate.
1920-1933: Prohibition
Prohibition led to an explosion in violence and organized crime, as infamous gangsters like Al Capone and Bugs Moran fought to control the billions of dollars in profits to be made by trafficking in illegal alcohol.
1971 - continues: War on Drugs
Like Prohibition, the War on Drugs created a billion dollar black market and violent criminal drug-trafficking activity. American cities are menaced by violent gangs that are sustained by drug profits. The United States now has a higher proportion of its population locked away behind bars than any other society in the history of the world.
Legalization or decriminalization would be the downfall of mafia cartels and gangs. The price of drugs would plummet. People are too stupid to see the truth. People are so damn stupid that they brush off the fact that prohibition and the drug war are identical failures with identical disastrous consequences.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. - George Santayana
Hey, you hypocrites... tobacco, alcohol, and coffee are drugs. All who use these drugs on a daily basis are drug addicted users. Drugs built America. The countries number once source of revenue was drugs at one time. WW1 and WW2 were won because of drug use. It's a good thing that fascism wasn't a popular and accepted position to hold back then. It seems there are more uneducated pro-government egomaniacs today than there are freedom fighter patriots.

These guys are drug dealers…
Freeway Rick Ross (Cocaine) life in prison, reduced to 20 years because the CIA was involved in the drug trade along with him. Unbelievable...
