Ether was the greatest dis record of all time. Even Jay-Z had to bow down to it once Nas joined his camp. All in all, Nas one the battle but Jay-Z won the war.

 Didn't there beef start cuz JayZ was tapping Nas's girl?  Jay Z by far the more successful of the two so he def had the last laugh.

Like I was saying... Jay-z is the more commercially successful, especially for the radio and club...

But intelligent/conscious rappers like Nas who's skills far exceed those of Jay-Z don't get air play and get blasted when they "sell out"...

Majority of the Wu-tang clan rappers would eat up jay-z in the battle, but don't have the same "mass appeal"... depends on how you view the game...  "mass appeal" is not always a sign of respect...

Dont you think that Wutang clan coming out was diss on everyone in the industry?

Their attitude was that they were better and stronger as a group of individuals then anyone has ever seen before...

They also used Rza beats/samples with the kung fu concept and called out the genre at the time...

"you best protect your neck!"

They were about lyrics that most listeners could not even understand... calling out people as just liking beats...

"the dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum"
"lyrics are weak like clock radio speakers"

and then the B.I.B.L.E (basic instructions before leaving earth)

takes on a majority religion in america...  as well as religion in general... huge diss if you think about it...

that line at the end about the white image of christ as being false, I have yet to see anything as articulate and controversial since...

Not a big fan of tupac.  Dude was born in New York, grew up in baltimore and attended some performing art school Biggies Who Shot Ya was way more raw than Hit Em Up.

One of the best battle rappers if not the best ever is Cassidy
