On another note the video of that comedian was john pinette John was soooo talented and was in the seinfield gang; heart disease and pulmonary embolism; arguably one of the funniest comedians of our time ?????? RIP John, love you man!
Pinette lost a massive amount of weight (close to 200 lbs) just prior to his death. Goes to show you that immediate drastic changes are not good for the body.

Hey gang, Didn't go too badly and you guys could weigh in. Huge salad with Caesar dressing to start. 5 baked chicken legs and1 chicken thigh. 3 cobs of corn with very little butter, 1/2 plate of green beans, 1 sweet potatoe. Washed it down with 2 glasses ofhalf sweet/half in sweet ice tea; finished off with half a plate of strawberries. I think I did pretty well; What you all say?

That does still sound like a quite a bit of food, but at least the choices were better - baked chicken as opposed to fried or dripping in some kind of gravy, I'm assuming steamed veggies with lite butter, started off with as salad (as long as you went light on things like bacon crumbles & croutons). Fresh fruit for dessert instead of cheesecake or something like that.....
Also if/when I go to the buffets, I always steer clear of the cheesy, oily "casserole" items: lasagna, enchiladas, sometimes they'll do like a chicken cordon bleu thing with ham and gravy and crap.....
Just stay fresh, portion it out like you did - pick one soup/salad/app, one themed main course, one choice for dessert, and you're good. See, it sounds like you're feeling better about it already.

You will lose weight just by doing those two things. But as Thorpe points out above, a Caesar salad with heavy dressing is more caloric than 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts.
Get educated, make good decisions.
It is tough. GL ahead.

A few rules for you:
Dont drink calories. Ever.
Cut meat out, or at least drastically down.

Yeh the ceasar dressing is killer. If you really want to eat it, get dressing on side, but dont dredge romaine through the side dish, instead dip fork into side dressing then go for the salad.
Water always a good option for fluids.

If you are on a diet, seems like a buffet is the last option that you would choose. All the advice that is here is logical but if you don't eat the meat servings, don't load cals/salads+dressings,stick to veggies,no 2nds/desserts you still are paying a price ($) for those servings.
Go to a Whole Foods and get a fruit/veggie plate with some low cal dressing and H2O.

I try to keep it simple. Eat real food (stay away from processed) and try to have reasonable portion control. I'm going to eat a tablespoon of butter on my baked potato, but I might eat it with a marinated grilled chicken breast, some sort of steamed vegetable (or grilled with olive oil), and some fruit.
Or I might eat a few pieces of pizza on a Friday night, but I will also eat some raw carrots and maybe an apple before I do....1. It fills me up so I'm less likely to eat the whole pizza, and 2. It's some decent nutrients before a little junk food.
That and I exercise 4-5 times a week. Makes a big difference. Everyone looks for the magic formula. There's really no magic. It's just a matter of measuring what goes in ya and throwing in some exercise.

My name is diver and I am addictive eater. Went to the crap of crap buffets; Golden Corral : f-*% me!! Ate like a g darn cow. They have the nastiest steak there; Looking like an old cow leaned over and fell sideways onto their grill! Then a heaping plate of sweet potatoes , Potatoe wedges, buttered corn . Omg it was bad. Hit that wonderfall thing and did what an old buddy used to do: got 2 scoops of hard ice cream and wonderfalled the whole f-ing plate with ice cream and made a thick turtle shell! Then half a plate of warm bread pudding , and washed it down with a tall cup of ice tea and a chocolate cake which I also wonderfalled. I need my ass reset after this; felt like a kid in a candy store, uggghhh!!!!
