Some have said something similar...but yes there is gravity in space. There is a gravitational pull between any two objects. Bigger the object..bigger the gravitational pull. That is physics 101.
Astronomy fascinates the hell out of me. The universe is expanding every second...according to astronomers. In my younger days I was foolish and arrogant and thought we were alone. I have a hard time believing that now. This place is just too crazy....and we are too insignificant.
On a side note...It's May 21st and I am still alive...

Blackholes are the ultimate gravitational pull, so there is gravity within inner space. Does anyone remember the movie Space Odessy 2001? That was a great movie. Dont believe in monoliths, but just makes you wonder the space and time is so beyond our mental capacity. I kinda get freaked out when i imagine space, planets, meaning of life etc. Good discussion on this topic btw.

when you consider the orbit of objects like satelites around the earth...
The basic formula as I understand it is that the satellites are constantly being pulled by the earth's gravity, but are actually traveling in a direction that is perpendicular to the earth...
The combined effects of both motions creates and arced shaped path which then creates a round actually elliptical orbit..
Similarly the planets follow this type of orbital properties of astrophysics..

You should watch some of the shows on the discovery channel, national geographic channel, science channel and history channel. Not sure which is on what channel, but a couple that try and explain this kind of stuff:
Known Universe
Through the Wormhole (the one narrated by Morgan Freeman)
Naked Science
Aftermath
And a couple random shows on black holes and stuff like that. It really is fascinating.
