Pack is bullshit though... I'm talking real money. I'd shop around. You should be able to find one that a dealer would sell for $17,000 to $17,500. Dealers are hurting out there.
Havent heard anything about import dealers hurting the nissan dealer down the street from us sells 2x the cars we do...

Walk into the dealership and tell them whatever price you want to offer for it. They will give you a line of bullshit and then give them your business card and tell them to call you if they are willing to sell it. They will call you back in a day and tell them you want ALL of the paperwork ready in advance and to call you when its all prepared. Make sure to tell them that the price you are offering for the car is including all the taxes and fees. Make sure when they call you back that you tell them you want all of the paperwork and everything figured out before you get there, if its not leave.
9 times out of 10 they will never call you again....... they would rather wait for the next guy to come buy.... I love it when people think there the only ones out there shopping. Had a guy the other day come in and look at a car offered a certain amount for it which we would not take then I showed him are number we were making about 1 grand off the guy he said I will think about it call me if you change your mind I said we will not change are mind and said I will call you when it sells this week it was a g35 coupe loaded asking about 2 grand below retail well the next afternoon which was a saturday guy cam in and layed down and payed the 22999 we were asking the other guy calls back on monday and says he will take it told him it sold he was pissed... I love the call me when your ready to deal customers...

It has worked for me and my father every time we have ever bought a car
Please show me the car salesman in this economy that is going to pass up someone who is willing to buy the car on the spot for the right price.

Your right price and there right price could be way off. Car dealers especially in this kind of market will not take losses on cars as they did in the past

Shit we turned away three people today that offered what they thought was the right price it happens every day... Yes eventually you may find the deal you want but I have seen people spend several weeks shopping around getting there trades appraised here and there and just finally giving in and buying to the last dealer they talk to because there wore out...

I realize that. But the consumer has a major upper hand when buying the cars because we are the ones with the money. That car doesn't do the dealership much good sitting in the parking lot. You give them a low ball offer and tell them to call you back and then start from there. This has worked for us everytime.
The main reason to do this is to get away from all the saleman bulllshit talk they like to do when you are buying a car. You tell them to have all the paperwork ready, everything finalized and then CALL YOU when its all ready. Then you show up and you dont have to hear them try and talk you into everything under the sun.
If they dont call, SO WHAT. Go to the next guy and try again.
Just remember when your buying a car, you have the money and you are in control. Thats why it is best to get a loan(not from the dealership) or pay for cars in cash.

You are saying all of this from the view of a Car salesman so ill take that into account.
If what you are looking for is a good deal, you need patience.

Doesn't matter what the reason...sales are way down, dealers are hurting and therefore it's a buyer's market and there are deals to be had.
Again your making uneducated comments yes there are great deals out there but no a dealer will not lose money on a vehicle... That makes no sense from a buisness stand point hey were hurting so lets give all are inventory away and lose thousand and thousands of dollars wrong what we do is cut are inventory and get very selective on what we take on trade and how much we give.. And we turn down more deals than we use to.. On new cars u can get better deals but on used the market is what it is and if gas prices go back up and they will, good luck getting a deal on anything under a v6

You are speaking for 1 dealership in America. Every dealership will operate differently. What you are saying is good business practice, yes. But there is no way someone should not be getting a good deal on a car right now. Aren't the new year model cars coming out now also?

All valid points you do know that dealerships have the advantage of buying rates down and I would say 8 out of ten people that come in our dealership with there own financing usually end up with a lower rate threw us... Yea you may have to listen to a few sales pitchs about warranty and gap but if it saves you 2 points then its worth the 30 minutes...

Im not familiar with the loans because we are usually buying for a company and everything is bought with cash. Never paid any attention to the car dealer loans.
You didnt answer my other question either, are they introducing the new year model cars now?

I never said anything about a dealer losing money. If you'll look back at the numbers I'm using you'll see there is still profit in the deal. Your nuts if you think dealers aren't taking deals with any daylight in this economy.

Thats what I was going to say is if they are phasing in all the new year models, it would be a good time to low ball on the 08's because they dont want them sitting around the lot and collecting dust.

Look I have been doing this for 15 years this is the worst I have seen its not because there arnt buyers out there its because the banks are not lending to people that they use to lend to there for the dealerships have to hang on to as much gross as possible.. In my 15 years I have never seen us or any other dealerships in the area turn away so many people.. Use to be we take a few losses here and there and make up for it somewhere else.. I have 100 friends in the bizz its pretty much the same across the board...

Thats about average for Import to Domestic they sell 350-450 a month we do about 175-250
Maybe everything in Texas is bigger but I can't imagine any Nissan dealer doing 450 units in December of any year let alone 2008.Even assuming that those figures reflect new and used sales I think those numbers are off a bit.
