Cast-iron cookware is unmatched in its heating properties and capacity--which means it gets extremely hot and stays extremely hot. This is important for many reasons, but especially when searing meats to create a nice char, making great hash, or pan-roasting chicken and vegetables. SkyWard Alpine

I recommend a Griswold size 10...
But others will do completely clean grease with lard or bacon fat.
and bake at 400 or about an hour let cool lasts forever without rusting ...
Never go camping without it.

Clean ours with only hot water. Sometimes use a plastic scraper if stuff is really stuck to it, but otherwise, just wipe out with a towel. There's nothing like homemade cornbread in a cast iron skillet.

@bluecompass
If you had a chance to watch the video plastic is not really suggested based on the fact it can melt in a hot pan and get stuck to the surface permanently

@Daddy_Freddie
Who tries to clean a hot skillet? When I'm done using it, I let it cool and then fill it with water and let soak overnight.

Did 4 chops last night about close to 2 inches thick, came out perfect but I use a temperature guage.....It's made me think I'm a pro :) any good recipes share but sometimes less is better it seems....I'm just getting into cooking as I have time and like knowing what's in my food......Always open for suggestions and thanks for the time, Knock!

When I'm done I put hot water in and let simmer a little and once cooled down rinse and dry.....I wipe a little oil in when said and done but again open to suggestions....I just love cooking with it, Knock!

Cast iron frying pans are the best my Family collected them The Griswold line... If you ever find one the 1 and 0 are very rare... The 00 is for an ashtray but original purpose was to melt lead and make shot for a muzzle loader they are more common. The number represents how many eggs can cook at the bottom without over lapping for feeding a crew or crowd.
Griswold also made a bean pot and is iconic for the chuck wagon of most cattle drives...
It could be used over an open fire with spicket for a stew. Or buried in the ground with coals for bean hole beans....
But by far superior to any newer tephlon or stainless steel frying pans. In my opinion.

Thank you for that and to be honest, it's possible I have a pot and smaller skillet in my garage put up......My family collected antiques and I picked up at their house but never paid attention....I think I'm using lodge is the name but solid cast iron, takes me both hands to move :) I'm just getting into it more and I need a new grill, probably weber but I'm thinking of something like the Blackstone griddle but I'm one truly open to suggestions.......What's wrong with the world today, they want one opinion heard but listen to all and decide for yourself......Griddle or gas grill, just don't need both but hopefully someone can lead me the right way...Thanks, Knock!

Knock-The key really comes down to how much do you have to/want to spend on a grill. If you take a minute and watch a few videos from the man whose video I posted here he has a Hasty Bake and really talks it up. And through his videos you see how he cooks things. One I posted here (the title is The Best Thing I have posted this week) he cooks some to die for ribs in it. It's worth a look!
