The answer to your question is, no it does not make you a better person, and no, it does not make you a worse one, IMO. I believe in God, but it is my personal belief + i do not practice organized religion for many of the reasons stated previously in this thread. I am arguably one of the biggest sinners you will ever meet, and i have never, nor will ever, force my beliefs on another. I have also always thought the more intelligent a person was, the less likely they were to believe in God, and vice versa.{religion is a handy crutch or weapon for some} I also believe that if you are not raised in a church, the less likely you are to ever attend one{behaviorism}. I am beginning to get long-winded...treat others with respect, love + be loved and listen to the part all of us have inside us that tells us right from wrong...a moral compass so to speak.

    Religion is terror!

    All religions.

Imagine if we banned religion for a year (as a start). Not possible of course but I like the idea.

My Christian anti-neighbor (guy who tried to cut my tree down by telling tree service it was on his property) once told me that America was a religious country, but that he knew a preacher from England, and was told that only 10% of people there (the non-Muslims) attend church.

Whereas here in USA about 50% do.

    OK.

There used to be a guy (is he still around?) who would buy tickets to nationally televised baseball games, and sit just behind the catcher

He'd hold up a huge sign quoting a verse from the bible book of John. Forgot what the verse was.

Same guy, or one of the group that did this, also would seat themselves in the end zone.. Hold up the same sign for tds or field goals.

Religion is a JOKE- that is essentially what it is--

Imagine a few buddies drinking heavily and start talking about some gibberish and crazy talk--

Then more people find out about it, then more find about it, then 100 years later its a major RELIGION--

That is what religion is- A JOKE--

Church is a SCAM, people are making so much money from it--

Religious beliefs are bullshit- why would something so long ago pertain to today? Religion is just an exuse to divide, rip off, conquer, beat, torture, brainwash, make people donate money, not pay taxes to gov't--

    Its basically legalized Fraud IMO

Imagine a guy starts a Church for some religion. He has basically in fact opened up a building and people will come there and DROP money off and Pray and leave--

Now what is Wrong with this picture???

So you mean to tell me that all I have to do is open up a Church or religious mosque and then people will come in and DROP and DONATE money and I will be RICH?  That is what happens?

WHy are people donating money? Is that money magically GOING TO GOD?  Or is it going to some rich scum bag who is laughing and owns 3 houses--

I know a few guys that run churches, and they both own 3 VERY BIG HOUSES-- they are fucking crooks and the stupid people come daily and donate money and prey like Fools.

I would like to start my own religion: IT would have 2 beliefs--

1- It would be to believe in YOURSELF--

2- Everyone is equal and Humans and should respect each other.

This is the only religion one needs, all others are bullshit-- WHat i wrote is REAL- not some bullshit that was created to brainwash people.

a lot of organized religions are there to fill a Pu and collect offering, no where in the Christan Bible does it say that if you say the Lords prayer you are saved, churches use this to get membership up, and it hurts people forever. when the day comes the pastors that falsely told people they were automatically saved for doing nothing will be held accountable. Christians sin as much as everyone, trying to live your life correctly will make you a better person, why not kill, why not steal,
wow we all do in fact have belief's don't we?

Gondi Once said "if it wasn't for christans i would be one" Gondi loved the christan Bible he loved the idea of a God who loves everyone, Gondi while in school read the christan Bible several times and one day whent into a Catholic church, a man inside told him he was not welcome.....

this is why it's important to not just have the right message but to live threw it and have the word connect with the actions, many places do not. i see the catholic church as a Cult

majority of people back then were in fact "slaves" why not tell people how to treat them? the old testament isn't looked at in Christianity as nothing more than the past, so i love how its brought up again and again, misinterpreted metaphors ect ect your going to find a way to believe whatever you want one way or another, don't go off your parents or covers or even the way some people act. look around you, a magic guy in the sky is far fetched but a magic boom that entitles us coming from monkeys and somehow a banana turning into an elephant isn't far fetched please... since dedicating my life to Christ i have been blessed far beyond anything i imagined, the closer i am to God the better my life has been, and i will continue to do so. and if you think Christianity is about revenge you have not read a single page of the Bible. the problem is most people want to fly under the radar as Christians, Satan can quote the Christan Bible, and for the rec they found a city of sulfur(Sodom) and Noah's arch, truly means nothing somehow I'm sure, also a study done at the U of A showed that when someone dies, before there tissue starts to decay or waste escapes the body they lose half an ounce, if it's a 8 pound baby or a three hundred pound guy, it's always half an ounce, guess what it is???

There is absolutely no question that religion is the darkest force in humanity today, and holds back society, medicine, and the relief of human suffering more than everything else combined.

Christians have been persecuted more than any other religion for their beliefs.  Not every christian is perfect NOR does every christian practice their faith, which gives the good ones a bad name.  There are bad seeds in every religion.  Most radical christians takes the biblical texts way out of context, just like radical muslims.  Jesus always said, " The Kingdom of Heaven is in YOU."  The way you live the 10 commandments, etc. Any1 who would have a problem w/ any of the 10 commandments is not a benefit to society. Just my opinion.

    Simply not true.
Please read about the Christian Crusades which lasted for about 200 years killing millions of people.
Or about the persecution of person since 1200 up until the 1940's.

Maybe you meant - no other religion has persecuted people of other beliefs than the Christian one?

Exactly.  I doubt he has ever read the 10 commandments.

And I love how in the 10 commandments it has NOTHING about slavery.  Why?  Because in the same exact part of the bible that it is written, it also states how to buy and sell and treat slaves.

These religious clowns love to cherry pick their bible.  They love to ignore the evil, bad stuff.

The 10 commandments are written at a sub 1st grade level.  "Thou shall not kill" - what about rape?  Thats cool with the 10 commandments.

Thou shall honor your mother and father.  What if my mother and father are abusing me?  What if dad likes to touch me?

These are typical blanket rules for morons who cant think and need to be told what to do in black and white.

And while Im on a roll....

I love the one quoted above - "thou shalt not covet thy neighbors possessions"

How does that commandment survive in capitalism?  Christians love capitalism, and they love the bible, but how does capitalism survive without coveting your neighbors stuff?

BTW - how is it HUMANLY POSSIBLE to not covet your neighbors stuff?  Doesnt that make you a better person if you covet the good things your neighbor has and does?

    Such stupidity....
