Typical Covers Thread -  I ask for help asking about how to break into other industries and I get people critiquing and questioning why am I doing this.....  Such a worth less forum.

I do want to thank the people who actually helped me with some ideas.

KnoxPoker -  Could be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard but you are entitled your opinion....  a dumb opinion about not being married and how I should live my life like you but I thank you for your worthless comment.


If anybody has any other ideas, I open to it...Right now I have a few opportunities in Software Sales,  Good Base and decent commission.  Im still shopping around so will keep everyone up to date.

Must say this economy is fucking terrible -  All of my leads have come from friends,  Sending resumes is like sending it into a blackhole....

NR - Did you ever think about going back to school?  I was in the same situation as you.  Worked on the NYMEX for about 12 years.  When everything went electronic got laid off.  Had offers from other companies but decided I wanted to do something else.  Went back to school for a Masters degree.  Moved out of NYC too.  If you've got the time and money, it's not a bad idea.  Just go for something you would enjoy.  GL to you.

Nate -  Great Idea,  but Im all done with school with bro,  I did my undegrad and have my masters....  Would love to get out of the northeast and most of the jobs i have applied for are out west on down south.

school is a waste of time. you can go to home care school for old people. its only 6 months long but u'll be taking care of old people for the rest of your life.

   

good pay not great, but job security.

i work for an auto insurance as a claim adjuster, all inside work handling claims, we got openings at my company on long island in ny

I actually feel bad for you. Married with two kids by 25? You have no idea how much you missed out on by not waiting for that until you were 28-30. 

You know the happiness you have with your family, but you will never know the good times you missed out on by not waiting for it during some of the best years of your life.

Update :

I have interviews lined up with software companies and financial companies.  I am more interested in the software companies.  The financial companies would be more planning related than sales related.

Also to kill time I am 15 hours a week for a friend for basically nothing.  I know it sounds crazy but I like the work and being out of the house... 

Not in any need for money as of yet but I am getting bored doing interviews and sending resumes.

know a guy that just sends resumes out for fun just so he can get a response and see if theres a job out there better than his current.

but hes doing it for kicks. he loves his current job.

i think a lot of ppl are doing this nowadays.

If you have had jobs that you described you should have some level of decent intelligence I would imagine. So why are you asking us gambling degenerates for what your next life move should be?

I know one thing, if I was not sure what to do in life. I would start a thread and ask for suggestions.

The reason I asked is because like many in here,  I also gamble.
The problem with covers is that for every smart individual on covers there are 4 dumbasses.  More importantly, I asked for suggestions because I know there are a lot of people on this forum that have worked in the technology or financial industry.

Also -  What harm does it cause?  Although most of the people have suggest terrible ideas,  it doesnt mean I am going to listen.

i've been on mass ui for most of the past 5 yrs (mass pays the highest weekly ui of any state, and i don't even live there). i work a few months per year only on jobs that give non-receipted per diem (non taxable), plus hourly pay, and love it.

i work 4-6 months a yr on the road, and make good money if you add the pay, per diem, and ui.  i could work 12 months a yr, but who wants to?  i have a lot of time for myself to do what i want.
