Killer ,going through pretty much the same thing.(I am 54 and a tonsil operation is all)......couple years ago had laser gum surgery done (which sucks, two visits and no salad or crunchy or fresh food for 2 weeks) Then bottom teeth were splinted together..that split in a spot so next step was $600 for a some type of threaded splint which is holding up well.
All this after repeated sales pitches to just yank them now and get dentures from the same office...Front of the house does regular dentistry, back of house sells implants/dentures...I'm a tweener and they have given up most of the pitches,I just go in for a cleaning every 4 months and everything is ok for now..
Bottom line is I'm getting as much mileage out of these as I can..Imagine if your car mechanic was dental school trained...you have 40k mi on the engine, but he wants to replace it with a new one.
Ask about the splint deal..it was a 30-40 minute procedure and used some type of material made by 3M..Good Luck.

this is easy. dont fuck up after you get off your parents ins when college ends or that age of 23ish and stop going to the dentist.
to have the best chance of having good healthy teeth and more importantly gums, you gotta have your check ups and cleanings twice a yr. and floss multiple times a wk minimum. thats it. you shud b good enless genetics come into play like myself.
i got the dollars saved for implants im waiting for if the time is needed. that better be it for a long time. im trying to hold off these damn receeding gums...
