It had a transmission break so you would leave the line with your foot on the floor (about 4,800 RPM's). 2 speed powerglide automatic transmission with an air shifter. 7,700 RPM's through the finish.

I physically shook for about 10-15 minutes after every run. It would pull the front wheels about 6-8 inches off the ground at the start and carry them for about 10 feet. Had to pop a rolaid before every run.

Guy had a Corvette that wasn&#x27;t street legal, he raced it on the Corvette circut. Took me for a ride on a Chicago highway, went up to about 150. Almost shit my pants. When he hit the gas I was thrown back in the chair. All I kept thinking was if someone else comes in our lane, I am dead. Never do it again, unless I am driving.

In all honesty, the fastest I&#x27;ve ever driven a car was 83 m.p.h.  It was the year on got my drivers license, and I was driving on the Garden State Parkway.

Just over 150mph in a new Mercedes. No vibration or play in the steering wheel whatsoever. The car was rock solid. It felt as if the car was going 55mph except my eyes couldn't comprehend. The guardrail became a solid wall. The white passing lines became solid lines at that speed. The car had plenty more to go but I backed out of it because I was gaining rapidly on two other cars. If somebody moves in front of you at that speed, there is no reaction time.

130&#x2B;........twice.............once in my 1979 Z28 (buried the speedometer....may have been close to 140) &amp; once in a friends 350ZX two summers ago. He hasn&#x27;t let me drive it since.  Slowing down to the speed limit is a bizarre feeling afterwords...........like crawling.

I have had my 96 Z28 up over 150 on several diferent occasions. Of course you need a programmer to turn the speed limiter off. I also only did this in safe locations.

Oct 1997 161.5 MPH Petty driving school Charlotte. They sent you out back then with no one in car with you.  Drink about 3 /4 beers and go drive around for 30 laps.
