Kodiak: That's twice now you've used name-calling against me in this thread.  I don't respond to name-calling.  If you want to have a civilized discussion, we can do that, but the name-calling has to stop.  House rules, not mine.

I've been thru Ferguson MO...bout 7/8 yrs ago...stopped right off I-70 to get gas...only white peeps were the wife & I...we were eyeballed hard... got back in my new Beemer and drove another 3 miles to a QT...completely different atmosphere...half black & half white...middle class i guess.

I have 2 nephews who are Police officers in small towns n Kansas ... they love their jobs and since their force is less than 12 officers (n both towns) they enjoy community involvment ...ie working in the local schools and being called by their first names by almost all the communities.....different life styles??

The degenerate young man robbed a store, pushed around the store manager, an old man, and decided to take on the cops. He took on the wrong one and got what he deserved. I assure you, we are all better off with this idiot out of the gene pool.

Whoa. GG. I am not so sure about this.  I think it may have more to do with it than you think.  I think when the cop confronted them the guy became overly aggressive because he assumed the cop knew about the theft. It probably caught the cop way off guard when he was just telling them to get out of the street. The cop probably had no idea the guys assumed he was stopping them for stealing. We already know the guy thought he could just push people and threaten them and get away with it. I am not so sure yet it was murder.

See guys caught all the time hauling dope for speeding or not using a blinker. If you steal; don't jaywalk. The more laws you break the more you increase your chance of getting caught. Also, hate to stereotype, but you do see a lot of blacks that just walk or mill about in the streets. Never really understood that either. Always give you a glare when you get too close as if the road is not for cars. Why be confrontational with cops---even if you hate cops for generations in your race---it never ends well. Be respectful of cops, no matter your race, their job is hard enough. Sure there are some bad cops and jumpy ones. But why is it always turned into the cops being out to get you?  Don't do wrong and be respectful to cops and others period.  Teach your kids this; they live longer, better lives.

Oh I dunno about that. Lot of folks just feel bad the guy is dead. Nobody likes that. But they don't wanna acknowledge he may have contributed to his own death. I will say this: it certain seems aggressive if you empty your clip into someone after they are down. Unless its your first time having to fire your gun and maybe you are scared and are taught to make sure they are stopped.

Was saying I dunno about GG not liking cops. Didn't copy the quote.  Simply meant folks tend to blame the cops when someone gets shot as excessive when the thug doesn't have a gun. That is not always the case. The gun is there for a reason. Don't know why thugs don't realize this. It is as if they are daring you to shoot them. That was this guys attitude in the store.

Exactly, the police department done that just to make brown look worse and even addmitted the robbery had jack to do with the shooting, but it done its job on this forum apparantly, and thats why the cop will walk cause the jury will be full of punk ass racists like the ones in this thread and theyll all label him a "thug" and he someone deserved to be gunned down, shits disgusting

Robbing a store does not get you shot by police. Fighting with police gets you shot by police...sometimes. I think people should focus more on the incident involving the cops rather than the store robbery. Kids steal from stores daily in America, it does not get them shot by police. People don't generally fight with police, however that can be a justifiable reason for a self defense shooting.

I know it's not what you mean but your first sentence is essentially saying "Brown was shot because he robbed a store". Which isn't true. A possible reason he was shot could have been a result of fighting the police but it wasn't because he robbed the store.

Hey Farris2k1, Mike Brown is the one who made himself look bad. You can go on about the timing of the police releasing the video, but the video speaks for itself. Was he a thug? I think you could answer that honestly and objectively. Did he deserve to die? No.

Why isn't any of the Mike Brown supporters making any note or comment on him moving towards the officer, pushing him against/into his squad car and going after his gun?

And it makes me wonder, what would have the reaction been if the officer had shot him once or twice, and he still died?

Once again, what does the store robbery video have to do with the actual shooting? People should be more focused on the evidence surrounding the shooting than the robbery video. The question should be "did he assault police?" not "did he steal cigars?".

I am curious...

If you loot and burn down a liquor store do you have to declare the liquor you steal as undeclared income?

Also would the matches used to start the fire and baseball bat used to smash in the windows be a business tax deduction?

If anyone has Lois Learners email address please let me know. I have faith that once I explain why I ask she can probably give me a way to get the tax deductions without declaring the liquor as income. That would be a win-win...

    Thank You in advance...

For sure this is a very rough area, not as bad as East St.Louis but pretty bad.

I am noticing that most of the looters are men and younger..people just looking for trouble and the opportunity to steal and do harm.

Across the river Florissant is rough, on the other side it is a nice middle class community.

Officer Wilson may or may not have known about the robbery prior to stopping Brown ..but Brown knew ..might explain why he attacked the policeman..

Yes. This was my point. And his overagression probably startled the cop. Probably couldn't figure out why the thug was attacking him for telling him to get on the sidewalk.

That and if the forensic toxicology report detects any drugs present in the body at the time of death.

I know this is off topic... And will probably result in me being characterized as Racist... Hopefully there are at least a few that will get it...

The African American community needs help and not just more entitlements (and yes white people get entitlements too). I voted for President Obama. (White, middle aged, redneck male Republican that I am) I was truly hoping President Obama would do much more to focus the African American community toward moving forward, increasing the high school graduation rates, addressing the drug and alcohol problems in the African America community, make getting an education a happening thing to do...

We are so fckking worried about hurting anyone's feeling that any direct addressing of the African American community's problems is Racist. I do not want to bash the African American community as a whole, and yes I know Randisist is Racist, Randisist is Racist!!! But, the problems facing African Americans today are far greater than for other cultures. And the easy answer is... IT is all the PoPo's fault!!! BS...

I worked at a food bank that had what we referred to as white shirts. County prisoners that helped at the food bank. The vast majority were black and it was easy to forget they were incarcerated. I enjoyed working with them. Good men caught in a bad situation.

I am not for affirmative action nor do I like preferential hiring. But I am for helping those that want to get an education a helping hand.

A good start for me would be the government to provide housing and daycare in a dorm setting for single mothers that are willing to go to college and get a degree in nursing (for example). Free housing, daycare, free college and a stipend while they take and pass classes.

I would love to see education programs that focused on a few questions that are NOT PC because it might hurt someones feelings.

    1. How much does the average High School drop out make a year.
    2. How will an unexpected child affect a teens chances of graduating high school and going to college.
    You should get the jest...

I am not out to cause teen mothers with children distress or make people feel bad about not graduating high school...

But, these problems need to be addressed. (And no they are not strictly an African American problem)

I know the President would be attacked if he paid special attention to the African American community, but I also believe I am not alone in America and especially since he cannot run again he should stick his neck out. If the African American community prospers we ALL prosper.

Specifically: What should he do? I do not know. But the situation is NOT getting better and the betterment of America is his job...

Who in this forum thinks this would have been the last time Mike Brown assaulted a convenience store clerk?

After watching what he did on video he seemed like the type that didn't much care for laws.
