Fear is a strong catalyst, it works and religions know that. I can tell by your replies that you also know that.
[/QuoteI am not insulting you just these ridiculous comments. You keep beating around the bush about generalization but earlier it was me that got accused of that. Religion does not know anything about fear. I can guarantee that. Like I said in some of my comments with club I despise those that use fear and religion to make money. I can agree but your generalization is false and wrong. People may use fear but religion does not. The problem is you also cant own up to mistakes and admit that you may have misspoke. Thats the truth. And peole like you that generalize like this do nothing good with your judgement of others
You mean i spent all these years fearing the fires of hell for nothing. chit.

I do not believe in deities. Therefore, I am an atheist. ARGUMENT. OVER.

Sure, however, you are no different to a Theist...Both have beliefs.....

You dont have evidence a Deity is not the cause of the universe, you cannot rule it out via evidence, therefore, you have a belief that it is not a deity.....

Beliefs are faith based........

How can someone believe in the wrong God?

God by definition is the creator of the universe, creator of life and source of all moral goodness. How is the God that i believe in any different to the God Islam beleives in? That is, we both believe in a creator of the universe, creator of life and source of all moral goodness....

The better question is, what if you follow a different religion?.....Which is an entirely different question. The ONLY differences between the religions is the way God has revealed himself to human beings......Thats the only difference.

If one believes in the creator of the universe, life and source of all moral goodness, then they believe in the one God...

I am confused.....

Club dirt regularly cites the actions of religious believers, ie, mocking homosexuals, sexual activity of some priests, church people stealing money etc etc...

Club, i just want to make it clear, are you citing these people and there actions as some sort of argument against Gods existence?

If you are, then the argument is non sequiter. If you arent, then really, i dont know why you even bother posting. I mean, do you post regular items of someone stealing fron the corner shop?

I mean, why dont you threads about Pot and Stalin who were Atheists and are the biggest murders in human history...Nothing even comes close.....Like almost comparing the American US dream team against an under 10s basketball from papua new Guniea.

Your posts are nothing more than clear signs of insecurities you have against Christians....

I don't like resorting to personal attacks, but you have to be mentally challenged. There is no way after all of these posts that you fail to see the difference between committing terrible acts IN THE NAME OF RELIGION and committing terrible acts because of whatever reason (I have no idea why Stalin did what he did, but it certainly wasn't in the name of atheism).

ANSWER THIS QUESTION

Name one person in the history of the world that has murdered in the name of atheism. Do not make anything up. Do not twist the definition of atheism. Do not put words in anyone's mouth.

Example: Terrorists blow up trains in the name of Islam (not singling out Muslims, just using a common example everyone can understand).

Example of what DOES NOT COUNT: Man kills wife. Man is atheist.

Please respond accordingly.

post 101 explains the purpose of this thread.  i'm trying to clean our christianity, one post at a time, by calling out the many hypocrites, bigots, nuts, opportunists and people who live the opposite of the way jesus intended by discriminating against others.

whether one person's or another's version of god exists is another matter and likely won't be addressed by me in this thread although others might.

a couple of reasons.  one, those fuckers are long dead and have no impact on me.  two, another difference is i don't have to deal with them on a daily basis while i am affected by the vocal "good christians" who want to influence politics, impose their backwards opportunistic, hypocritical views on others and just tell other people how to live bwith their fake, bullshit, warped "morality"(by vocal good christians, i mean the kind of people who i cite articles about in here, not christians who just live good lives and go about their business without bothering other people) and three, as KK pointed out, none of those people did anything bad in the name of atheism.

that should say, clean "up" christianity not "our" christianity.  the Church of ClubDirt is kind of like open source software.  it's dynamic and it changes with the members, as long as none of them are racists/bigots and don't discriminate against others for no legitimate reason.

rostos, here a follow up example to KK's example.  if i'm a christian, muslim buddhist or whatever, i assume i kind of share similar beliefs, views about god, values, etc as the other people in my group.  when one, or many, dio all of the crazy whit i've posted in this thread (and last year's thread and we're only a quarter of the way through 2013), i think i would be offended by these people who are tarnishing my religion by making us look like bigots, racists, and freaks.  that would be me.  now, i'm not a christian, but i'm going stand up for good christians everywhere by calling out the nuts.

now, if i'm an atheist and some other atheist does some crazy garbage or says stupid garbage all of the time, i really don't care.  i have no affiliation or connection with him. i could care less what he thinks or what his beliefs, or lack of beliefs, may be since we don't share any meaningful connection.  we are similar only to the extent that we are not both in some other group.

This is a very nice thought of which I happen to agree with, but many Christian religions believe that all other believers in God are going to Hell, and will cite John 14:6 as their "proof."

Please respond accordingly.

rostos just doesn't seem to understand that atheism is not something people kill in the name of, none of these people killed to try to wipe out a religion...I have tried to explain this to him numerous times...on the other hand we know people have killed because others didn't believe in a certain religion...

The central doctrine of Christianity is "Love your neighbour as yourself". That encompasses, do not steal, lie, cheat, murder, rape etc etc etc etc.

If i go and rape a woman and i am a Catholic, can a link be established between my belief in a doctrine which teaches the acts as i laid out above and my actions?

If not, then why would Club Dirt mention an act of person, then also mention it that they are Christian?

I bring up the examples of Stalin and Pot simply to show that their Atheism has as much impact on their actions, ie, killing tens of millions of people as Christianity has on a Christian stealing, lying and raping....

I bring this up to show one thing and one thing only, to highlight Clubdirts insecurity he has with Christians.

Its his mental problem that he has...

post 101 explains the purpose of this thread.  i'm trying to clean our christianity, one post at a time, by calling out the many hypocrites, bigots, nuts, opportunists and people who live the opposite of the way jesus intended by discriminating against others.

whether one person's or another's version of god exists is another matter and likely won't be addressed by me in this thread although others might.

I mean, why dont you threads about Pot and Stalin who were Atheists and are the biggest murders in human history...Nothing even comes close.....Like almost comparing the American US dream team against an under 10s basketball from papua new Guniea.

a couple of reasons.  one, those fuckers are long dead and have no impact on me.  two, another difference is i don't have to deal with them on a daily basis while i am affected by the vocal "good christians" who want to influence politics, impose their backwards opportunistic, hypocritical views on others and just tell other people how to live bwith their fake, bullshit, warped "morality"(by vocal good christians, i mean the kind of people who i cite articles about in here, not christians who just live good lives and go about their business without bothering other people) and three, as KK pointed out, none of those people did anything bad in the name of atheism.

So i suppose if you were on the Mt Olives , you would be the only person on the hill throwing the stones, cause you are morally perfect?

Furthermore, under your subjective world view on Atheism, why should your view be deemed anymore right than anyone elses?...

I love how you and others have argued for subjective morality being true, then you start thread like this....I mean, seriously, can you see how self defeating it is?

Aha, now we are getting somewhere.

Firstly, the bible tells us that Gods law is written on all our hearts. That is why if someone hasnt heard the word or are even Atheists, still have Gods law written in their hearts. Havent you heard many Atheists say, Atheists can also be good people, of course, because the law is also written in their hearts. You dont have to hear the bible to know murder, lying and stealing is wrong. You know and your conscience bears witness to it.

One of the main doctrines of Christianity is realising that you are a sinner and asking for forgiveness. We also believe Jesus was God in human form. Therefore, if a Muslim or person asks for forgiveness from God, and a Christian is asking for forgiveness asking it from the same God?

We thank Christ for giving his life for us sinners and its a matter of accepting that simple gift. But the question is, is their a difference between asking Christ for forgiveness and thanking him for sacrifice different to a Muslim asking God for forgiveness? I dont know and i am not here to judge.

What i do propose is that man in various religions around the world have perverted Gods message for a number of reasons...

your examples of Pot and Stalin fail, because they did not kill because people were not Atheist. On the other hand, people have killed and still do today in the name of religion...

mt. olives?  my wife just bought some pickles made by the brand mt. olives.  she puts it in tuna salad.  if you've never done that, give it a try.  other than that, i have no affiliation with mt. olives.

i wouldn't say i'm morally perfect.  i'd say, morally pretty solid.  i offered you a chance to use me as your spitirutal and moral guidance couselor for a period of time.  don't knock it until you try it.

but i tell you i'm not a hypocrite like family values politicians or religious leader who go on and on about happy people and then get divorced or ignore domestic violence and child molestation and many things the bible says are abominations.  i have no problrm with imperfect people, hypocrites are a different story because they are all about manipulating the lesser people to suit their agendas which usually results in more money and power for them.

If i go and rape a woman and i am a Catholic, can a link be established between my belief in a doctrine which teaches the acts as i laid out above and my actions?

we'll try this one more time.  brother system and kk have tried to explain this to you.  if you are a catholic and rape some chick, it would not come under the scrutiny of the Church of ClubDirt et al.  now, if you did it and tried to justtify it with your religion, that would be different.  or, when it happens in hardcore muslim countries and the perpetrator gets away with it or gets a slap on the wrist because they interpret islam as marginalizing women, that's different.  when the victim is a little boy and the church covefrs it up, that's different.

so when a person commits a crime and he happens to be christian, muslim, black, white skinhead or whatever group, so be it,.  it happens all of the time.  but when the person uses his group's "values" to justify it or uses his group to manipulate victims or cover up the crime or to justify the crime or the racism or the bigotry, then that's when the person and the group needs to be called out.
