I make six figures (and sorry, it's to rub anyone's face in it....there are PLENTY of people on covers making more money then me and six figures isn't really that glorious) and I am seriously considering getting a part time job......because I honestly don't feel like I save enough money for retirement.
It's a pretty sickening testimony of our lovely economy.
You can make decent money and still feel like you are going backward.
I humped freight for over a year at the MSP airport when I was in grad school. I liked it. I don't think I was ever in better shape and when you can work and shoot the shit, how bad can that be.
GL with the new job.

KOAJ is right on. You always want your money working for you, I don't care how much you have or how much you expect to make on the yearly return. Wachovia just yesterday ended its good rates but I'm loving the mutual fund that I'm in. I keep 6k in the bank and everything else I save I just put more in the fund. I really might want to reduce the 6k backup to maybe 4 or 5k. So far I'm about 7k in the fund and feeling great. But the main part KOAJ said to is always set little goals. I started working two jobs one year ago, and said I wanted to get to 5k, did - then 10k, did and then I took half and opened the fund.

I smash one of them everytime I plan on going to a party anymore. THey do the trick for me, so I'd give it a shot and see if they work for you. Dont necessarily taste so great, but they get the job done, plain and simple.
