And as I've stated many times, social media (especially Twitter, etc.) is going to be our undoing.

This in my book is a racist comment.  I don't know if she should of been kicked outta the Olympics but I'd excercise some common sense if I were an Olympian.  Especially 2/3 days before it all starts.  FAIL

She said "Africans". Not all Africans are black. The only way to interpret this comment as being racist is by viewing it with an already racist mindset. I'd hate to see how you envision "Africans" in your mind. I'm sure they're all pitch black, have huge lips, a bone through their nose and they're all surrounded by buzzards and flies and dying of starvation, huh? Think, man. Think.

Good point.  I actually think it was more a comment on immigration and she just did it in a dumb way.  Can't be positive, but some people seem anxious to make the racist connection and seem to go out of their way to do it.

the funny thing is that she issued this big apology....sort of like Imus going to like jesse jacksons dick for his racist stuff....and then losing his job.
why go through all the groveling of an apology just for people to say....thanks but we were going to punish you anyway...hahaha.

i dont like the way she expressed her disapproval of immigration but the punishment was harsh.  

what you learn here is that when a PC ass clown gets butt hurt over some bigoted statement....no apology means anything.....dont even bother......they never forgive and always punish.

so the message is
1) watch what the fuck you say on twitter/facebook
2) if you offended a PC ass clown ....dont apologize.....they wont think you mean it OR even if you do you still need punishing
3) there is no forgiveness from PC ass clowns

Godfavoritedog - I've actually been to Nigeria for work.  Didn't see bones through nose or plates in lips.  That I see on the Discovery Channel but not while I was there.  FYI

Would Ernie Els qualify for minority status if we were to become an American citizen ? Every official form I've seen which requires you to state your race indicates only African-American not black anymore.

what the fuck is wrong with you people?  you think she is hot based on the photo that no count posted?  we should be grateful that "hot women" who happen to be in triple jumping are exposed in itself just because what woman would want to wear makeup and fake eyelashes while competing?  The real deal best women who are not a fraud can wake up in the morning with their hair all over the place and still be hot.  I realize a lot of the photos are from amateur photographers who aren't looking to necessarily take the pictures at the best angles.  Do athletes look to have their photos airbrushed?  

I guarantee you all based on a lot of your responses that if this woman chose not to take a background in sports, you would all be fooled and tricked into falling in love with her, becoming boyfriend/girlfriend with her, then kick her ass to the curb after 10 months.  It's easy to see a make up artist would further do her eye brows way better, heaven's sake the dyed blonde hair just does NOT look right for her of course she gets a pass because she's an athlete but too many of you are amateurs!  I'll bet if any of you cared enough to go to thailand, you'd be fooled too easy and wouldn't be able to tell who's a girl and who's not.  

Next time you are out in public sight seeing, study the woman you think are that "hot."  Look real closely.  Look at the eye "decorations."  Determine the foundation or not that she might be wearing on her face.  See if the skin on her neck matches up with her face as you go up, is there any discoloration?  If she's got open toed shoes with ugly feet showing, that is not a good sign, but knowing too many of you as i have seen in this thread, the "stick on" acrylics similar to what is used to protect iphone screens would also fool you.
