Abbbbbsolutely Getty  Unfortunately, nowadays, there are people who classify themselves as "Christian," but are either trying to take advantage of a particular situation, or just have no clue as to what and how a true Christian is supposed to act. If somebody says they are a Christian, and yet are blatantly going against what God and the Bible says, I would argue that they aren't much of a true Christian at all.

Dirt, you can't argue with them, it's hopeless.  If you question even ONE thing you're instantly branded a religion-hating lazy liberal.  Where the notion came from that liberals don't work hard to put food on the table is beyond me. 

Anyway, a few thousand years from now the religions that exist now will have been discarded and replaced by other garbage.  Just as it has been throughout history.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is He neither able nor willing? Then why call Him God?

Years ago I attended a Sunday School in a little Southern Baptist church in the beautiful mountains of northern Georgia. Abortion was the theme of the day. I listened and quietly agreed that abortion is in itself a horrible and misguided method of birth control. Later, as we discussed the issue further, I proposed a question. I said "As much as I would like to see an end to the barbaric practice of killing unborns, I'd like to know what we as a country are going to do with an additional 1 million unwanted children every year ?"
The response ? (crickets) 

The answer ? You can not be against both abortion and preventive birth control methods. Pick your poison. I vote for birth control and not abortion. Do the Catholics and the Baptists get it ? I don't think they do yet. But I hope they have the courage to learn and change.

Back in March when I was working at the golf course back in NC, we had a rain delay, and were all just hanging out at the shop... I have noooo idea how the conversation started, but we were soon talking about religion. I found out that one of my buddies working there was an atheist; and so we started to converse and ask questions and stuff... He asked me this, "If God is loving, then why would He create Adam and Eve knowing ahead of time that they would sin, and therefore go to Hell?" It sorta threw me off for a second, because I had not really anticipated such a deep question from this guy. He was sorta asking in a roundabout way what you are asking now, and so I will try to answer similarly. 

When we conjure up questions like these, our tendency is to answer it from a man-centered perspective. But the Bible challenges us to take it from a God-centered perspective. God is eternal, infinite, omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. Why should we as humans (who are none of those things) expect to be able to fully understand God's ways?

Adam and Eve falling into sin does not make God the author of sin, nor that He tempted Adam and Eve to sin. The Fall serves as the purpose of God's overall plan for creation and mankind. If you would ever sit in on my dad's Sunday School class, I guarantee you that at some point, he will say that Biblical history can be roughly divided up into three main sections: A. Paradise (Genesis 1 & 2)... B. Paradise Lost (Genesis 3-Revelation 20)... C. Paradise Regained (Revelation 21 & 22). At the center of this is the cross. The cross was planned from the very beginning. It was foreknown and foreordained that Christ would go to the cross and give His life as a ransom for many.

This is where it is difficult to comprehend why God would do all of this... Why create mankind with the knowledge of the fall? Why create mankind knowing that only some would be "saved?" Why send Jesus knowingly to die for a people that knowingly fell into sin?From our perspective as human beings, it does not make sense. If the 3 main sections of the Bible moves from paradise, to paradise lost, to paradise regained, why not just go straight to paradise regained and avoid the whole paradise lost conflict?

God's purpose was to create a world in which His glory could be manifest in all its fullness. The glory of God is the overarching goal of creation. The universe was created to display God's glory (Psalm 19:1), and the wrath of God is revealed against those who fail to glorify God (Romans 1:23). Romans 3:23 tells us that our sin causes us to fall short of God's glory. The best place to see an example of this in the Bible is Romans 9:19-24. Wrath and mercy display the riches of God's glory, and you can't get either without the fall of mankind. Therefore, all of these actions - fall, election, redemption, atonement - serve the purpose of glorifying God. When man fell into sin, God's mercy was immediately displayed in not killing him on the spot. The ultimate example of God's glory was at the cross where His wrath, justice, and mercy all came together. The righteous judgment of all sin was executed at the cross, and God's grace was on display in pouring His wrath for sin on His Son, Jesus, instead of on us.

God ordains future events in such a way that our freedom and the working of secondary causes (like the laws of nature) are preserved. God's sovereign will flows concurrently with our free choices in such a way that our free choices always result in the carrying out of God's will. Even though the fall was foreknown and foreordained, our freedom in making choices is not violated because our free are the means by which God's will is carried out.

It's easy for some (and I am sure we all have at some point, to some extent) to paint God as a tyrant because He made man knowing that man would sin. But we fail to remember that God lavished His kindness on us by giving us life. This all-wise, all-powerful, incredibly kind God is also a God of justice. His very nature demands both perfect justice and perfect love. So what did God do about man's sin? He gave His life on that cross, taking the punishment for our sin, so that we could escape being justly punished in hell.

The Bible tells us that all of us are desperately wicked and deserving of hell, as we broke God's Law. Yet Jesus paid our fine, knowing every sin we would commit before He made us. Because of His sacrifice, He can legally dismiss our case. 

Another question similar to this is, "why do bad things happen to good people?" The biblical answer is there are no "good" people. Romans 3 could not be clearer about the non-existence of "good" people. Every second we spend alive here on this planet is only by the grace and mercy of God. Even the most terrible misery we could ever experience on this planet is merciful compared to what we deserve, being hell. What we deserve is hell... What we are given is eternal life in heaven if we come to Christ in faith.

God allows things to happen for His reasons, whether or not we understand them. Above all, however, we must remember that God is good, just, loving, and merciful. Often things happen to us that we simply cannot understand. However, instead of doubting God's goodness, our reaction should be to trust Him. Hope this helped

i have questions about the religion, and i don't really like religion, but i respect another person's different opinion, as long as they don't use it to discriminate, impose views, etc etc.

When settlers came to America, they saw a broad expanse of natural beauty and unlimited opportuniy. They didn't step upon Plymouth Rock and say "Here we shall build our first prison." But over time, look what has happened.

Likewise, Hell was only built as a necessity to imprison Satan and the other rebellious angels who strove to usurp God's throne. It was never intended to be. But now that it exists for the purpose of punishing those who deny God, it only stands to reason that the souls of humans are subject to it's wrath as well. So the story goes.

Your thread states otherwise....You have misused the quote he stated and taken it completely out of context...Why didnt you use the other quote when they asked him to clarify?

rostos, "when they asked him to clarify" was after someone with some sense in his campaign probably said to him, hey dumbfuck, you're running a campaign, you can't say that crazy women hating religious nonsense in public".  and then he tried to backtrack.  rostos, if you truly held christianity in high regard, you should be the first to attack this clown, not defend him.
