Working from home is good for people that like to settle for less or are lazy.. No real person works from their house.
This is an odd thing to say.. If you can work from home and make the same amount of money as people who commute why not? I know a couple of my friends that have the capabilities to do i once or twice and week with their regular jobs. My brother in law makes 6 plus figures and when he is not traveling he works out of his office which is in his house..

Not only do I get more work done working from home then I ever did in a regular office, but my work life balance is so much better. More time with my family is always great to me. To each their own though.

Going into an office is far from pointless and definitely isn't old world mentality. Offices aren't going anywhere. Most of the work being done in offices could be done from home but it's in the best interest of the company to have everyone together.

I remember reading years ago that a lot of Japanese workers used to get up at 4.00/5.00 AM, drive to work and sleep in their cars in the parking lot for a couple of hours before their shift, just to avoid the traffic or taking public transport

Best interest? you are very dumb.
managers (companies) don't even know the majority of the people working for them, and rarely deign to go thru the work spaces. they only want them there because they are under the "old world" thinking of paying people for hours worked, instead of productivity based on goals reached. most workers spend more time at work surfing the net than they spend actually working, so they may as well work from home.
add to that how bad commuting is for the environment and the roads, and the wasted time, and all the accidents. only a moron such as yourself would approve of this.
