How is it not a failure? Look how much money is pumped into the stopping the drugs yet drug use increases every year. How is that a victory?
It is not a victory yet but as we speak the U.S. government along with the Mexican government are winning the war on drugs.
Why just a few days ago the Mexican government I believe made a huge bust...something like a100 tons of pot was seized and then burned to ashes...now that is an example of the authorities winning so far.

I consider meth to be a step above pot, but there are similarities just as there are similarities to cigs and pot.
The point is that the argument is absurd.
Pot CAN have qualities which can inhibit behavior, people do use pot and do other things than just sit on the couch.
And to answer the last comment, no I dont think people should be able to do things that destroy their body if they want, especially if there is a direct and indirect tax on society by those using it..if you smoke pot you are becoming a drain on the healthcare system.
My comments are about POT, not about other things which also have similar issues, just pot.
How is somebody smoking pot becoming a drain on the healthcare system anymore than those who use other drugs? That is a very fickle argument. People pay for their healthcare and they pay for what kind of healthcare they need. Those who smoke cigarettes and marijuana are going to have to pay more most likely and that is a choice they made.

Obviously it can't be compared to Meth as that can completely destroy a person in a single use even result in death. (Marijuana laced can do the same) Marijuana used over a long period of time and heavy usage can have devastating effects.
It is like WSC said... if alcohol is bad and cigarettes are bad... does it make Marijuana right? It is kind of silly to think that... They are all bad and should all be avoided... a slip up here and a drink or two there... no big deal... its the heavy users and the ones who drive UTI that get into trouble

I completely agree and I was agreeing with him with his statement that it is stupid to say because "these" are legal "this" should be. I was disagreeing with his assertion that if marijuana is made legal meth should be also. I know he was joking but still.
If not legalized there should be decriminalization. It makes no sense to be sending people to jail for marijuana and releasing pedophiles and rapists, who's sentences are ending, out early to make room for drug offenders. I think too much money is wasted on the War on Drugs to see no results what so ever.

I think less emphasis should be put on locking up drug offenders and instead focus on the crimes surrounding drugs. i.e. robberies and murders. Lock the people up who are committing the crimes that hurt other people rather than lock the person up who is only hurting him or herself

I have said it time and time again... my biggest problem is the PRIDE and UNREALISTIC PERCEPTION marijuana users have.
When is the last time you saw an alcoholic come preaching how great alcohol is? Encouraging people try it and do it all the time? When is the last time a meth user peer pressured you to try it? Gave it to their little brother and friends?
When you talk to marijuana advocates they act like it is the miracle of the world. Some idiot even suggest it CURES CANCER on this website. (unreal!) Kids are pressured to do it all the time, users have rallies... when is the last Meth rally you attended? When is the last time you saw an I do Meth tshirt? 4:20? marijuana pride? Grow up people...
If you use it that is your own business, but don't drag down and sell to little kids. Dont encourage 16 year olds to smoke pot. It's wrong and it CAN ruin lives. It is not as addictive as meth or cocaine... but it can be addictive and can lead people down a bad path

even if the bill passes, since the turn of the century the power of states rights has decreased and the strong hold dictatorship of federal/executive has taken its grasp...
state rights mean nothing...
I was just going to say this.
Federal always supercedes State.
In 1997 Proposition 215 was PASSED in California.
In spite of the citizens of California rightfully voting and deciding in majority that medicinal marijuana was allowed it was an uphill battle from the beginning.
You were AND still are usually guilty before presumed innocent and often looked at as a "Doper" in Cali and Hawaii.
I can only say that when legal voters that pay their taxes make a decision that is on a ballot, it should be honored.
You dont see any other laws that legal voters get overuled on.

Some of you should reconsider what you percieve as bad. Especially you folks / suckers that use legal Pharmaceuticals like anti depressants, ritalin, like skittles.
Joe Rogan gives some true perspective on Marijuana. I have plenty myself but he's able to sum it up much quicker via this short video.
Lets hear what you have to say "Reefer Madness" groupies.
Life is bigger than some of you think.
Enjoy the weekend

To answer your question PLENTY. Someone high on marijuana committing a violent crime? I have seen many kids fight when high on marijuana. I have also heard of plenty people driving high and crashing their cars.

Plenty of violence and crime breaks out over marijuana
a rarity. ive seen enough bongs and hookas in my day and never a fight while baked.
