Alright, I'm sure you've all heard the story of the guy that was totally bored with his life...30 yrs old (balding), dead end job, living in a shithole town (Dallas, Ga. to be exact) that woke up one day and said, "to hell with it all, I'm moving to Vegas and becoming a professional sports handicapper."
I did the whole college thing...actually went to Kennesaw State University for 9 years and still don't have a degree, although technically, I have enough credits to have 3 different degrees. I've got the going-nowhere job going on...I manage a 3 minute, exterior express carwash and if I have to listen to one more customer try to tell me the car wash scratched their piece of shit kia I'm going to grab someone by their weave and hold their face in front of the high pressure wheel blasters...needless to say I can't take it anymore and have decided this is the year I do something totally drastic and follow my dream for a change.
A wise man once said, "To be truly successful in life, you must do something you are passionate about."....which got me to thinking, the only thing I've ever been passionate about is sports betting. I've been capping games since I graduated highschool in 1998. I've followed the life of Steve Budin (Bets, Drugs and Rock n' Roll is one of the best books of all time) and have come to the conclusion that it is time I took a calculated risk.
Sadly we all know how this story ends 90% of the time. Within 6 months, the undisiplined, egotistical, get-rich-quick schemer is back home, working back at the same dead end job and broker than they were before....and to that I say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I have now told myself, If I can pick 60% winners from now until Aug. 1st, Im renting myself a condo and planting my ass at the Mirage....Follow my journey!!

Yes, I know even if I hit 60% from now till then it may not last once in Vegas....and I know that I need to have a fall back plan in case things don't work out (I could always come back to my menial job, unfortunately this place isn't going anywhere)...and I expect as I keep the posts going I will have many naysayers along the way.
The whole point though, is to see if I'm even good enough to even attempt a shot at it. That being said, any good info on picks along the way would be greatly appreciated. I think I'll do ok because I typically only bet Rothstienishly...that's a Casino reference for those who don't know...(I found out the Ga. State dorms were having some heating issues yesterday) and hammered Drexel +2 (they won by 15 even though 63% were on Ga st. at home)...that is the only kind of wager i'll put my money on every time.

1. People are very passoinate about heroine when they are heroine addicts. Do you consider them to be successful?
2. That Steve Budin book is for the most part shit.
3. Seriously - why would anyone who wants to be a sportsgambler move to vegas? I have asked this over and over - there is ZERO advantage to being a sportsbook in vegas. You want terribly low limits, terrible lines, -110 on every bet, impossible logistics, hassles about cash, and live in the worst place on earth - move to vegas. If you want to get the lowest lines possible, and make your burden of success much lower - sit at home and bet online.

Vanzack is 100% correct. If you are serious about being a successful sports handicapper, why would you want all the distractions of Las Vegas? Offshore and incognito is the ONLY place to be.

If you are going to move somewhere, and adventure is part of the attraction, move to the Caribbean or Mexico or Taiwan or Singapore or Switzerland or Argentina or Costa Rica or wherever.
Bottom line is, once you are there, you have total freedom of movement of funds, and you can sit at your computer and pick out the best line from one of twenty options, have all of the information at your fingertips - and spend the rest of your day in an exciting, livable, and human society - unilike vegas.
Oh - and I also didnt mention - try getting a 2k bet down in vegas on an NCAAF total. Just try it. Besides paying -110, and only having one option on lines - you cant bet enough to make it worthwhile. Want to bet World Cup lines? Forget it. Tennis? Gold? Ha.
Vegas is shit. Its like saying you want to be an autoworker so you are going to move to Detroit, them days have done passed.

How about the fact that I love America...the food, the nightlife, the people...Move to Taiwan (you must be joking!!)...No thanks....I'll stay right here in the good ol U.S.A. fly back to Ga. some weekends (at a reasonable rate unlike what a flight from Argentina would cost me)....that's ignorant. Please only post if you have some kind of constructive advice, not some asinine comment like move to Switzerland.
As far as distractions go, been there, done that...I've been to Vegas a dozen or so times and have always enjoyed myself, granted I understand living there would be quite a different story.
And say what you will about Budin...the guy put online gaming on the map.

Good luck dude.
I like how you ignore all the facts about sportsgambling in Vegas in favor of your flag waving I love America speech. Great.
Here's the thing you cant get around - if you go 60% in vegas, you could have won MORE by betting online. If you go 55% in vegas, you could have won MORE by betting online. If you go go 51% in vegas, you lose - but online you could win.
Its easy math pal - and Im sorry for you that your squareness of romanticizing "vegas" and Steve Budin have led you to the conclusion that real wiseguys bet there - or that vegas is the land of the movie Casino - you dont have a fucking clue.
Ever been to Costa Rica? Ever been to Taiwan? Ever been to Antigua? Im sure you havent. Planes fly there too you know.
And Im ignorant - I have played this game for years pal - so just go to vegas because you already know it all - send us a postcard when you are back in bumfuck georgia at your shit carwash job dreaming of your next gangster move. Please.

And BTW - the moving was just a suggestion if you wanted to move.
Why dont you stay in bumfuck georgia and gamble there? What do you think vegas is going to give you that bumfuck georgia wont? You have been watching too many movies - "move to vegas" - if you have a computer bumfuck georgia is a much better place to bet sports than vegas.

Judging by the amount of posts you've done...I'd say someone doesn't have much of a life themself...and seeing how worked up you get over someone simply stating they are considering moving to vegas, maybe you should consider doing something a little less stressful on the ol' ticker instead of using wagerline to rant about how great betting online is....Have fun in Taiwan, I hear they're making real enroads with gaining their independence from Communist China...BTW, I've bet online with Bodog, Betus, 5 dimes for several years now.
Aside from the obvious and as blatantly moronic as your rhetoric is, you truly are not worthy of a further response. Goodbye...

So once again - you totally avoid the meat of the matter - you dont even address any of the questions related to going to vegas.
I wish I had someone like me to tell me what I needed to know when I was at your stage of your gambling life. You are LUCKY I am even talking to you, but like most morons - you reject sound advice because you dont like the wrapper it comes in.
Like I said - go to vegas - drop us a postcard when you get back to your carwash job in bumfuck GA.

yes, all the pro's love -110 lines. Get your calculator out and work
out your profit on 60% @ -110. Now work out 60% @ -102 or -105. Get it?
And why the fuck Vegas? You can't use Pinnacle or matchbook from your
lounge room? Why not overseas? You prefer paying tax and having the
hassles of moving money around and hiding IP's when betting with
overseas books?
what is your bankroll size? will it be enough to cover living expenses?
will your bankroll size and money management methodology allow for
things like variance? can you get on for as much as you would like? do
you know your max drawdown and have you allowed for it?
what is your logest run of outs? how will you cope with that when you are on a losing streak and you need to pay rent?
there is a lot more to this then reading 1 book and thinking "I can do it".

Ok...sorry guys, moving out of the country is out of the question. I've got a wife (who definitely doesn't want to go overseas and family here so I'm staying in this country....Now that thats settled, I've got a 50k bank roll and 12+years betting on games.
Its not like if I go out there for six months and lose my bankroll I can't come back and still have a job...I'm not going to die if it doesn't work out. Just think it would be fun to give it a shot...my max draw down is, when I run out of money...I come back, simple as that.

Sir -
You still keep avoiding what many people are trying to tell you - what do you think you are getting by moving to Vegas and why cant you bet online from home and do better?
You have to answer that question before anyone takes you seriously - because if you dont have an answer - you are just moving to vegas for the adventure - which is fine - but lets be honest here - you arent intending on making the most profit you can sportsbetting.

you have 50K, 9 years of college and no degree? i would use some of that money to get a degree.
vanzack is right on spot as ussual. to dismiss his advice would be moronic. but you moving to vegas with your wife to be a pro sports better seems a little far fetched.
