This is ugly.  While I've had a few spats with Tony where I've felt like punching through the screen, he's always been fair in the end.  I hope this gets resolved.

Boy it's really hard to fault the bettor here. Tony's real beef should be with his two employees who OK'd the 7000-1 payout. I think 5dimes should have paid the balance, closed the account, and fired the employees....

That being said, given my past run-ins with Tony (which were well-documented on this site and, quite honestly, MOCKED on this site by the administrators here), I'm not surprised one bit.

This guy Tony is a major douche.

He knows he's wrong and you can see that as soon as he starts going into bully mode. Tony owes player 30 racks and instead tries to flip it on him and starts threatening him. This guy needs to be slapped and handed a checkbook, cut the check cheapskate. Subtract the $ they miscredited the account and pay the rest, the mans run was legit.

    5dimes is losing my business.

I guess I won't be using 5 Dimes in the rare case I hit a miracle and run my account that high. I would hate to have someone constantly threaten me by referring to my address repeatedly and threaten to have someone come and collect.

    Bad karma by Tony.

I have to side with Tony.

Does this guy win 32K if he did not steal the first 4K?

Let me give you a simpler example.  Suppose, 5 Dimes has a bad line and it pays me 100,000 by mistake.  I take the 100,000 and bet it all on a big ML favorite at  -1000 and I win 10,000 more.  When 5 Dimes figures it out, do I get to keep the 10,000 from the ML bet?

Let me give you a simpler example.  Suppose, 5 Dimes has a bad line and it pays me 100,000 by mistake.  I take the 100,000 and bet it all on a big ML favorite at  -1000 and I win 10,000 more.  When 5 Dimes figures it out, do I get to keep the 10,000 from the ML bet?

Agreed. He had to know that was a bad line. Especially after talking to a representative and then wanting to talk to a supervisor. Bad lines happen at times. A person shouldn't take advantage of it either way. Not fair to the player nor the house.

But it wasn't 100k. This is a Tony/5Dimes issue, not the players issue. Clearly 5dimes was made several mistakes.

I am in disbelief Tony is acting like a little b itch over 3k. All the future winnings were legit. 5Dimes booked the action, they pay. What a sore loser. All the tough guy talk, lol, yeah right, what a joke.

Seriously, what a little b itch. This is terrible publicity for an operation of their size, even if you believe its over 30k and not 3k.

It's no secret if a offshore books screws the player there is no real  legal recourse available, as well with the exception of extortion what can 5 dimes do to recover the 10k payout if they are in the right?

yep, actually just found out about this situation a few days ago and been thinking about it ever since.  Was actually going to start a thread on it.  In case anyone else cares to read more heavily into it, there were 2 other forums including sbr which i believe is still a sister site to this one if i am not mistaken.  The other forum had 37 pages worth of info and opinions.  So much info that i was just dizzy as hell thinking about everything that happened and trying to figure out what should have, or could have happened etc.

The greatest piece of information that i've been able to gather is that 5dimes has horrible customer service that really needs to be fixed.  And i don't mean anything about the people over the phones who act mean or don't know what they are doing, i am talking about the bad lines that are displayed from time to time.  A book with very good customer service all across the board will never have bad lines up like 5dimes seems to have on a consistent basis.  I mean dan bouton managed to cash out over $10,000 from 5dimes of money that he should have never received.  The mistake was on the part of 5dimes 100% on this as first and foremost.  At the same time, i imagined myself and what i would do especially if this was at a las vegas sportsbook, even though this kind of mistake would probably never happen.  I value what a sportsbook in las vegas would think of me because if i was dishonest, more than likely all the rest of the sportsbooks on the strip would know about me and then they would never want to have anything to do with someone dishonest.  And i value what all offshore books would think of me too.  I say this because i consider my type of betting as a way to make a living especially during  college football and college basketball season (have not been able to figure out MLB, NFL, and NBA as well).

I know this happened with 5dimes, but how would i know that any of these offshore books are connected to vegas in anyway shape or form?  I've even heard rumors that tony williams might actually be in the united states.  You never know man.  You never wanna fukk with people's livelyhood or money because then you give them an excuse to come after you when you least expect it.  I don't play this ever.

The problem with the dan bouton situation is that 5dimes finally caught on well after he had made his account into over $30,000 on top of the over $10,000 he was paid out.  This is a once in a lifetime case that a guy can bet 57 cents, get paid out almost $4000 when it should have been $39 to begin with and then proceeds to turn $3900 into over $10,000 to cash that out, have some money left over to get the balance over $32,000 a month later or whatever.  And then 5dimes only happens to find out and look into it well after everything was all said and done?  Guy wanted to cash out over $30,000 or whatever and then came the corruption from tony williams that the $30,000 will not get paid out and then dan bouton owes over $10,000 or he'll have to deal with "people coming after him."  To me tony williams goes over the line when he makes threats to have people "come after him" unless he pays back the "stolen money."

First of all i don't think that tony williams or 5dimes would actually send anyone over.  It's just an opinion of mine but who really knows but i feel that is a ruse in order to take the over $30,000 that was on the table.  5dimes is obviously not going to pay the 30 grand and dan bouton is not likely going to give back the over $10,000 he was not supposed to be paid out on.  Dan bouton is pretty much done with being able to play with any online sportsbooks, if i were him, i would not even trust the las vegas casinos for fear that offshore books can blacklist anyone even though they are in another country.  dan bouton to me would have no choice but to have runners if he wants to place significant bets.

I know tony has been known to act like an assh0le towards lots of customers who might even deserve it or not, but to make threats over the internet with people like that i don't condone that, even though i feel he won't really do anything (just my opinion he won't).  The question i ask myself is 5dimes off the hook for the over $30,000 owed?  And that is the million dollar question.  All i know for sure is that 5dimes will not pay that out and dan bouton is done with doing business with 5dimes, time for both sides to move on.

I know many people won't understand this, but for 5dimes to pay out that over $10,000 in the first place is very very poor customer service.  Just because it just so happened to be in the favor of the customer this time is besides the point.  I also realize that tony williams more than likely does not agree with the "american" way of customer service but setting incorrect lines/payouts is also no excuses.  And yes you have to believe the customer service reps need to be more informed and management should hold more meetings with their employees.

If you want to see for yourself on this case aside from the original link in the post, i would suggest typing "Tony Williams 5dimes" in a google search.

I think Tony's behavior going public with these transcripts will cost him way more than $30,000 in business.

If you're in the market for a new offshore and you visit Covers and read this sh!t, are you going to join 5dimes? I def would not want to deal with a sportsbook manager threatening physical harm. It's absurd and unprofessional to say the least.

I use a local and a couple of other offshores and have considered joining 5dimes, but now they have lost any chance of getting my business

You can't be serious? Sure 30k is a decent amount of money, but in this business it's not a significant amount of money. garbage, if my local had a 30k set back, it wouldn't be the end of his world and he wouldn't risk his reputation by acting like a little b itch and making unjust threats.

A REAL class book would honor their clear mistake as they had ample opportunity to protect themselves at several levels. They failed on the reviewing the lines when requested, they failed in paying the bet, and they failed on the cash out. A REAL class book would simply wait for the bettor to lose the money back. Now, they stand no chance as Dan won't dare risk playing with the bafoons. Tony is a terrible business'man'

i stand firm on that especially in a tough economy, taking no chances.  Moving directly to las vegas and dealing with betting in person is something i am seriously considering by november of this year.

Here are the facts as I see them:

    1)  The guy created a new account to pull this scam.
    2)  The guy lied about being a novice gambler
    3)  Betting into an obviously bad line is the exact same thing as stealing.
    4)  If you steal money, you can not profit from that money in the time between stealing it and getting caught.

If you spot bad lines, tell Customer Service to get them corrected.

Tony is in the wrong completely. The guy was depositing big amounts, who's to say he wouldn't have reloaded and hit that run. Whoever sides with 5dimes is clearly ignorant in regards to the subject matter. Tony can only void the original $4000, but has no right to confiscate the rest.

maybe, you never know,  but i just won't take the chance.  the chance i take might be ok once, twice, but long run?  i just don't like the idea of a negative paper trail behind my back.

Regardless of whoever's side you agree with, I don't think anyone here would condone Tony using this guess address and making threats about someone coming to collect. That is an awful way to conduct business and shouldn't be tolerated.
