Credit or debt makes the economy run. Without credit, fewer people can afford large purchases such as homes or infrastructure. In investments, debt leverage can be a double edged sword. Bigger profit if price increase or bigger loss if price decrease.

to me, credit in america is a science. Even if you have the lowest possible credit score, there is still a way around anything. If you have bad credit, you can build up a savings and wait for years to buy what you want. You can also create yourself a new identity for the sole purpose of obtaining credit. Whatever you choose to do, research can happen to get whatever it is that you want. Having said all of this, it was unfortunate that credit was never something i fully understood or taught to me when i was a teenager. Credit and betting can equal to a very bad equation and a tough lesson in life especially if you don't learn from your mistakes. Well i've lived it and learned what i can. Do any of you know how big of a business government/student loans are for people in college? That's right any student loans that you have, cannot be disposed of in say bankruptcy court. That is HUGE, thank goodness i didn't owe anything more in student loans than $2000 and that was paid off in $50 installments after i left college. Many people i hear of nowadays have student loans that are 6 figures and some aren't even able to find a job with a college degree. This is total bullshit to me as in that it's big business for kids to get caught up in the student loan programs which can be argued as one of the largest scams in america. if you know what you are doing, have people to back you up with experience in getting into the field that you are studying for, then i can see how it might be worthwhile to take out student loans.
And as long as you are going to school/college, one thing that is never taught as far as "getting a job with a degree" is that just because you have a degree doesn't mean jack SHlT because it's about your attitude and who you know. So if anyone in here who is reading this about to go college or in college, you better do research on how to build relationships with people especially with whom you will be going to school with. Because you hear of the phrase so many times: "it's about who you know." And don't think it's all about kissing someone's butt either because that's not the answer either. For me i was just not cut out for college at the time and when i look back, there is no fuckin' way that i am going to take a class because of some "general education requirement" on something that i will never apply in life. I do however agree with a specific trade school that can teach someone that can be applied after they graduate.

Credit is the same as Integrity, it's part of your stake in life. Your word is your Bond and Credit is your Word. If you expect to get ahead in this old world you'd better have great Credit.
With all due respect I have to disagree. If you have cash, you don't need credit. Secondly, even if you don't have much cash, you can still live a comfortable life without credit. I'm not sure what you mean by "getting ahead" though. Obviously, and I agree with you on this, you need credit to buy a house if you don't have 150K laying around, and then you need furniture if you don't have it. That said, you can choose to rent. There are, of course, pros and cons of renting. Renting a house with no or few neighbors is the best way to go IMO.
