Im looking to buy some government coins (99.99% silver and gold). im 28 and i figure i can store these away and have it grow in value over the coming 50-60 years (should i live that long). or give it to my kids/grandkids.
wondering if anyone has any experience with this? I've been reading online and there's money to be made if you do your homework.

Find yourself a good auction in your area that occasionally sells gold coins that also charges no sales tax and the Auctioneer charges a buyers fee of only 12% or so. Then bid on gold coins based upon their "melt" value.
The amount of gold in each coin is well published on the internet. Most real US gold coins have little numismatic value in circulated condition and are usually discounted at auction to cover the Auctioneers fees. This is the most effective way to purchase gold without over paying. Buying the bullion pieces you see in every newspaper requires payment far in excess of bullion value. If the market goes down, you're even further behind the 8 ball.

Why's that?? Buy gold as insurance against inflation and currency depreciation. With trillion dollar deficits and rampant money printing, the dollar is losing value. Gold/silver "appreciate" to maintain their purchasing power.

on topic.....gold and silver are at all time highs
i personally do not think the bubble will crash and there is still some room for prices to go higher but you will not see the type of growth you did over the last 10-15 years
i have been listening to the idiots saying gold and silver will crash when gold was at 900/oz, ive been buying since it was 300 and stopped buying at 1500
i would switch to mostly silver as it has more industrial uses as technology advances, plus there is not near as much silver being mined as there once was
