aren't bitcoins just a finite digital form of currency?  I'm not understanding how it can be an investment option.

I would imagine EMC and SBUX are excellent long term investment options.  5-10 years for SBUX, possibly lifetime for EMC.

You are finding out that stocks are really no different than sports gambling or other "investments" that you have no control over.  I learned this the hard way when I was younger with stocks and now view the two as identical beasts.  Whatever you decide, pick 2-3 options and do as much research as you can so you understand all the angles for that field/investment.  That's the best way to attack any investing.  GL

sbux is indeed a long term play. similar to bitcoins.

Hatin on the youngin'. I'm 23 and two years ago I was in the same position as you. Came up with some money (mainly from a couple hobby/jobs) and then decided I wanted to do something. As a finance major I was determined to put it all in the stock market. I convinced myself that all my modeling, portfolio management, derivatives classes taught me enough to manage my own securities portfolio. Well 3 years have past and my portfolio has stayed relatively stagnant. However, just having my money locked in probably saved me from my gambling losses. Either way, set yourself a goal with your money. What do you want to do with it? Grow it over time til you're retired? Or have generate some income? Or maybe grow it until you can buy a house? After you set a goal then you can go look at different investment types. All these investment types will play a roll in your overall portfolio. Never put all your eggs in one basket. This means that you should have securities, options, futures, cash, bonds, and alternative investments like real estate or metals. It just really depends how much of each is good for your goal. If you want high growth and a short amount of time, that means your investment will likely be coupled with HIGH risk meaning you could lose some of your starting principal.

Start booking  cap $500 as your max bet u will take from any 1person set strict settle up figures and dates and u will b retired by 30 Just make sure u don't get caught up with dead beats or the law!!!  Best advice u will get on here!!!!

If you need the money within a couple of years, you tread carefully. If you are looking to put it away for the future, and can live with the ups and downs, you put it in the market in SPY, or some balanced mutual fund. Not even debatable
