    I vote ABSOLUTELY NOT.

The man is in handcuffs. YES, he tried to slip his hands in front of him at the last minute but that DOES not give law enforcement unilateral and unbounded authority to pull this man out of the car and drop him on his head imo.

Yes, the facts after the use of force matter matter.

Yes, the cops have a right to do SOMETHING to a man trying to pull his hands under his legs but not this.

Look at the pictures under the video and see the life this man will now lead because a cop decided to drop him on his head while his hands were completely constrained.

Still I'd like to see those who support this conduct because that is why it is allowed.

Slammed him head first right into the pavement and busted his neck with cuffs on.
    Outrageously excessive.
    He should be paid millions.

Really?  This is a serious question?

No one in their right mind wouldn't think this is excessive.

The body cam phucked over these cops and rightfully so.  It's unfortunate that the taxpayers will have to foot the bill for their aggressive stupidity.

The guy deserves free medical care, punitive damages and blowjobs from all their wives.

Hope participating officers lose their jobs and their pensions.

    Disgraces to the badge.

Oh and by the way, the jury (the ones who will make the taxpayers pay) cleared the cops.

I didn't read the comments, just watched the video. Why is this story not all over the news? That man is lucky to be alive.

I could never be a cop

I want to beat the shite out of people for going 10 mph under the speed limit in the passing lane while on the phone, don't know how I would deal with an MMA trained man with a dozen or more arrests trying to slip handcuffs in front.

The cops screwed up but i just feel like instances like this are unavoidable considering the volume of incidents.  As Nicky Santoro once said, "In my business, things don't run so smoothly."

Bottom line I feel about 10,000 X more sorry for the kid's family that got killed by the gator in Disney World.

Just another day. Cops use excessive force all the time and get away with it. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old child lights a mattress on fire that ended up killing a police officer and he gets 19 years to life.

Just glad the officers last words were "I can't breathe" ... Ironic, huh?

Just another day. Cops use excessive force all the time and get away with it. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old child lights a mattress on fire that ended up killing a police officer and he gets 19 years to life.

Just glad the officers last words were "I can't breathe" ... Ironic, huh?

    3-0 Excessive so far.

You find it that funny that I don't read the comments section of an article, or you recognized that I agree with you after you read my comment again.

It's a rare instance that we're in agreement as most of us are. Crazy that a jury would clear the cops of any wrong-doing.

No, I found it funny that you were condescending about my question (i.e. "This is a serious question?") when the jury themselves, along with many commenters found that it was justifiable.

Ante - Thanks for the opinion. You and the people that share your opinion are the reason more videos like this will continue to be shot.

And by the way, "Expecting much worse"???? Huh? What's worse than paralysis? Death is next!

Centaur - It's a bit much to say they screwed up. Ever been in a fight? Do you kick the guy in the balls, bite his ear, drop him on his neck? No.

Now imagine that his hands are completely restrained. Would you drop him on his neck then.

The great irony is that we are citizens commenting on this. These cops are supposed to be trained more than sufficiently to avoid these types of occurrences. And yes people WILL get out of line. That is completely normal in this profession. That doesn't give you a license to turn this guy's neck into a bag of rocks.

    You keep doing this.

Posting select incidents with out of line cops, in this case something that happened last year, and presenting it like it's an epidemic or somehow avoidable.

You have a bunch of big egos with a max education of a HS degree constantly going up against criminals intent on chaos and anarchy.  Shite is going to go wrong every now and then.  You never post the multitude examples of police being abused or endangered by sub humans though.  We get it, you're a lemming lefty.

I just don't understand what you are trying to do though.  Raise awareness?  It's been happening since the beginning of law enforcement, and actually used to be much worse.  Do you want to present some other way to enforce laws?  I for one would rather have a bunch of HS grads with egos controlling things than the thugs running around doing what they want to.

This kid getting getting effed up is like a hom osexual getting AIDS.  He knew it could happen, he knew he could prevent it, but he chose to act impulsively and immorally and things eventually went south.

First off. It's general discussion. I'll post whatever I want without your approval. Hence the title of the forum.

And to the rest of your incoherent babble, this is relevant because people are dying or are getting paralyzed. For the first time in history, we have endless streams of video documenting the very crimes that went on for decades (or in all reality, over a century). Modern technology makes this all meaningful.

The more outrage and exposure and reporting of these very things keep law enforcement in line.

And every single time you use the words 'left' or 'lefty' you expose yourself as someone who can't a) offer anything substantive an argument or b) are just on autopilot when it comes to any and all responses against someone who you don't like or disagrees with you politically.

So please, move along or just answer the question.

Or at least cap a SINGLE game for others to discuss. You are on a sports gambling website after all.

I didn't say you can't post this stuff.  I asked you what are you trying to prove or what issue are you trying to raise.  Unless you invent robocops that can effectively enforce the law and are programmed to do everything exactly by the book in an instantaneous calculation of the situation, we will always have these situations and we always have had them.  Everyone agrees with you that cops don't do things correctly sometimes.

Yeah but 99% of the time these are career criminals who continuously put themselves in volatile situations.  You aren't opening anyone's eyes to anything, you are just trying to be inflammatory and skew who the good guys and bad guys are.

The more outrage and exposure and reporting of these very things keep law enforcement in line.

I beg to differ.  Purposefully vilifying an entire field like law enforcement through misrepresentation and a skewing of the rate of these occurrences is detrimental to society.  If you don't believe me check out the crime rates in Chicago as a result of an impotent police force.

"Lefty" was one of many substantive ideas and words I offered.  Every time I refer to you and yours it is just much easier to say "lefty" as opposed to "communo-socialist leaning white guilter illogical self gratifying at the expense of society and the truth LEMMING progr-iberal PC zombie", you know what I mean?  That way everyone knows who you are without all the extra verbage.

I actually do discuss and cap sporting events from time to time, but many times it's in the MMA forum, so unless there was a pro wrestler somehow involved I guess you missed it (1) BTW, don't you think your WWE fiction threads would be more appropriate in the "other" category under sports?

Who cares if they are fuc*ing career criminals!  That doesn't give them the right to pile drive them into concrete with their hands behind their back!?!

I am so sick and tired of people digging up criminal history to justify police abuse, specifically death!

    Again think for YOURSELF!

Our legal system does.  Prior behavior and convictions in many cases are used in convicting and sentencing defendants and presentation of witnesses.

Also, it is perfectly legal to deny jobs, housing, voting rights, and the ability to purchase or carry a weapon based on prior behavior.

I realize people are still innocent until proven guilty and prior behavior doesn't justify abuse, but to act like it doesn't play a role or greatly increase the chance of an altercation while decreasing sympathy for that individual is just being naive.

It doesn't ALLOW police to conduct themselves in a reckless and life-threatening manner.

And police typically have no detailed foreknowledge of any convictions/felonies etc. which they use in court and feed to the press to give themselves n excuse for all those they destroyed.

Who cares if it 'increases' altercations? Those altercations happen with virtually all different cops and if they all do the jobs they are trained to do they won't drop people on their heads when their hands are behind their back.

It's this very type of reasoning that the cops harbor internally to injure a 'lesser life' or worse.

And denying voting rights is quite a hotbed issue legal or otherwise. Denying jobs is at the core of recidivism. It doesn't work. Especially for those who have low-level drug possession crimes. But that is not what the OP is about. But what you are spouting IS in part why people like this have continual run-ins with the law. Have some marijuana on you and all of a sudden you are disenfranchised as a citizen of this country.

Police in most instances protect and serve deal with humans at their lowest points and restrain them put them in cells awaiting a reasonable trial.. Are they going to get it right every time of course not they are humans. These officers should of shackledd the suspects ankles and shackle the cuffs hands and feet together if they felt unsafe with him attempting to escape. What I like to understand what events led up to this aact of insanity by the police.

    Now you're just being argumentative
People who have misdemeanor marijuana possession aren't denied a day care job or given a harsher penalty for embezzlement, convicted pedophiles and former bad check writers are.

Also, these cops were familiar with Duran's past arrests and actually this was either the 3rd or 4th time they had been called because of him in a day or 2.

You can discuss whether voting rights and job screenings should or should not be legal, I am just offering that our legal system does care about a person's relevant past to your question of why it matters if they are a career criminal.

Most people do exactly what is said by the PD in general licence and registration we give it to em . when the cop yells freeze we stop hands in the air get down what ever it is normal humans do it.

We. Don't resist arrest and we don't attempt escape and we aren't acting ignorant of the fact a human has a gun on us and is requesting we do what is needed. Once a suspect arrives in intake everything else can be sorted out through a judicial process of law. Can't understand what going on with idiots that can't understand normal thinking at times so their must be reasons why people are acting abnormally.those questions are the only thing that matters to me in judging a alleged systematic abuse of power.
