That are advantages and disadvantages to both sides. Your perception matters as to what is the most important.
Carrying cash (and lots of it) is risking. I've been robbed at gunpoint before while holding over 2 grand. Before anybody calls me stupid for carrying that much cash on me. I have to say that I was being followed and I was actually on my way to put the money in a safe place when it happened.
So if you do go that route. Don't tell anybody around you that is what you've done.
Banks will gladly take your money and you don't have to worry about that.
I don't really know your personal situation so it would be wrong of me to say take your money out of the banks. Someone already said it can do damage to your credit and if you ever did need a loan or something, you'd be fucked. Also, other than the obvious robbery issue with holding on to all that cash - you also have to think about keeping track of it will be a lot harder. Spending can become a huge problem if you don't know how to control your cash. With a bank you don't have to worry about keeping track of it as each dollar and cent has a detailed transaction description allowing budgeting to become a little easier.
But if you want to do it, go for it. That's real OG right there. Livin 1700's style.
i carry two g.s in my clip everyday... and i got other cats i know that do the same... its not crazy.
sh*t you spend $100 just for waking up each morning and being alive let alone when you may just have a sudden urge to purchase something.
i enjoy beig a dinosaur...aint nothing wrong with it...
just dont be a dumbski and all is good...

Thought I was one of the few really. Been thinking about getting a small limit card but for the last 3 years or so it's been
straight cash for me homie
Sucks if you get in a bind but I just hate dealing with the banking assholes and fees, nickel & diming, etc. Like I said it's all about the greenbacks for me though...until our USD goes bottom up of course!

They would use their credit card to buy a pack of gum or a slurpee. Hell, if the vending machine has a credit card processor, they would use their card to buy an eighty cents bag of chips or M&M's Just pathetic I tell you.
There's a bitch at my workplace that wants me to buy something for her at McDonalds, but she didn't have cash on her, so she asked me if I could cover for her and she'll pay me later. I said no way and told her to march her black ass to the atm and show me the money.

I know some people that are the opposite.

Credit is a great thing to build. In my opinion just paying cash or debit is retarded...if you have good discipline use your credit card and pay it off appropriately...but if you are compulsive, don't take this advice. I use credit cards to build my credit (I am only 23) but that one day you wanna throw down for something big like a house or a car, you want to have a good credit score man, Interest rates suck but it is well worth it if you plan on making big steps in your life, at least thats what my dad taught me. I am no Confucious but my dad is as wise as they come in my book and he is doing well for himself and have the utmost respect for him when it comes to financial matters. Debt sucks, but at the same time I believe that it will be the thing that saves you in the end IF you are able to take care of it responsibly, by no means am I a financial wizard but hopefully this all make sense to you, Best of luck to you my friend
I think you have it BACKWARDS. Paying with cash or a debit card is smart, whereas trying to build credit by borrowing money is retarded. Saving money for a rainy day is much wiser than paying off your credit card every month. Regardless of your discipline, what happens if you get sick or fired and cannot work for several months? Money saved will get you through this, but you won't be able to pay the monthly bills that your paycheck would have allowed.
And if you have money saved for a decent down payment on a house, I do not see where having paid off credit cards is necessary. Our grandparents made it by without borrowing money; why should we be any different?

Also, carrying around large amounts of cash for an extended period of time is stupid and juvenile. One is just begging for some jealous thug to rob them. A small amount of cash and a debit card should more than suffice in almost any situation.

Screw credit cards.. they cost money... interest rates on home loans and car loans are low theses days any way...
What are you going to put on a credit card that can't be paid for in cash... I don't want to be paying 17% on a credit card for an iPhone 4 that I purchased 2 years ago when the iPhone 5 comes out within weeks...
Credit Cards are for suckas, they want you to fail at maintaining a 0 balance...

I don't understand what is wrong with credit cards? Please explain to me the problem. I've paid my bill every month since I've had it. Its pretty simple. I've never carried a balance and never will.

If you need to go buy something you take a lot of cash with you . If you are just going about your day there is no reason to carry 2K with you
its all good. i just got a different world sorta speak... i dont do the normal 8-5 lifestyle so cash on hand has been my way of life...
i feel naked wo cash...
i travel and just dont mind paying for others when i know my snituation is better then theirs...
i can buy drinks and eat two meals out, alone or with others or may just meat a female at the bar and pursue that for dinner...theres multiple hundreds right there. i dont eat at olive garden...
i may decide to golf for the day...then chill in that city for the night and whatever comes my way painting the town maroon...
if i suddenly see somethin i want to purchase i may want to big face it instead of amex it.
and when im in nevada for some investments...its definately more then two on me at all times...
i swear i wake up each morning and its an easy 100 just to start the day with whatever bs pops up...
idk what will happen each day to the next...but whatever it is i always have a small roll with me for a potential purchase and for back up. something ive done since i was highschool that my pops taught me. i just have progressed his philosophy thru the yrs. its really not a big deal...especially if youve seen over 100k and above in front of you for over a decade so many times its just normal....
just sayin...

Suggestion...If you are carrying cash with you. Have two wallets..One with your cash hidden...The other stuffed with B.S. business cards so it looks legit. If some goon comes around give him the stuffed one. To play it safe put some ones a five, ten to make it look legit. Many years ago I was mugged by some gang of kids outside of central park. They wanted my bus money...I gladly gave it to them because I had a twenty hidden in my shoe.
