Ironic how he says he doesn't wanted to be treated any differently to the other players in the draft yet goes out of his way to drop this bombshell.

True. However, hes the 1st openly happy guy to enter in the NFL draft.

    Jackie was black.

    Sam is happy.

Similar is the sports world at the time of the happening.

Many news outlets are calling him the 1st openly happy NFL player even though he is not on anyone's payroll. It's very deceptive what the media is making of this story. The truth that needs to be known is that he told all of his teammates at Missouri the same exact thing before the start of last season and not a single one cared enough to make it public. As usual, as always, the media takes something from the real world and spins it into something larger than life.

Bingo... Why wasn't this reported in August... Oh wait I know why.... The NFL isn't being talked about now so lets drop this story so the NFL can stay in the news.

Actually, it was made public. NFL scouts already knew and it was pretty well know "locally". It wasnt on ESPN because he was just a college kid from a middle of the pack SEC team (at the time), and hadnt made a Lebron taking his talents to South Beach interview yet. Nobody cared. Now, hes gonna get drafted, should be 4th round or so, probably by a team that can both use him on the field but also need some good "press".

He didn't go out of his way at all. He simply announced it to everyone & the NFL team that drafts him knows his entire situation in advance.

I don;t get it. We already had Manti Teo admit he fabricated the whole gf story because he was happy and didnt want anybody to know. Is this special because he is the first "black" player to come out of the closet and bound for the NFL

Who really cares? The guy is projected to be a 3rd-4th round pick..........if he pulls a Richard Sherman & becomes one of the best DE's in the NFL, then I'll take notice.

Jackie Robinson never had this guy's killer sense of style, or near encyclopedic knowledge of show tunes.

I'd be willing to take a shower with this guy just to show people he's not going to be looking for a willing partner on whatever team drafts him.

I heard Matt Birk in an interview yesterday say that he thought he probably played with 10-12 gaay players during his career.  He survived as has EVERY player (hasn't EVER been a complaint of sexual assault in a locker room as far as I can remember).

What's the difference if someone comes out.  I couldn't care less. The fact that this is such a big deal just tells you how far we have NOT come as a society.  Drives me nuts.

When I was a kid, there was a friend of a friend of the family who we'd see at the beach 3-4 times a summer.  He was a former Redskin lineman, and he was openly (or seemingly openly) guy.  I won't "out" him here, in case he never outed himself, but this was 35 years ago and nobody seemed to care.

Actually, I think most people feel about like you do and don't really give a shart, but the media is making it a huge deal so here we are.

He would rather see something say:

"Congratulations Brandon Marshall on beating another woman!"
"Congratulations Leonard Little on your DUI manslaughter charge!"
"Congratulations Lawrence Taylor for banging a 16 year old prostitute!"
"Congratulations Pacman Jones for, well... the laundry list of charges!"
"Congratulations Josh Brent for getting drunk and killing your teammate!"
"Congratulations Aaron Hernandez for your multiple homicides!"

To people like him, none of these are as bad as someone being .   Oh what a world we live in......

Your post isn't relevant because all that guy said was what's the point of the President paying tribute to someone coming out as happy, Where's the achievement? A Jewish guy playing in a football side full of Palestinians = Acheivement, A Black guy being the first Black guy to play sports alongside White guys = Acheivement, How is someone openly admitting they are happy in sports an achievement? What if Dez Bryant openly says he has a fetish for White womens feet and can only c-ome via a footjob, Do we applaud him for coming out about his sexual preference? Do me a favour.

The guy didn't just say 'what's the point of the president paying tribute...'

He added the comment:  ""Congradulations you Sodomite and we are proud you will be commiting your buggery while you play in the NFL"".

He makes it sound that this is such a horrible thing to unleash on the poor players of the NFL and that they are fragile and will intimidated by the big bad happy man.  In reality ( this is the double standard) players literally get away with murder, and it is totally overlooked, but (and mostly through fault of the media) a guy who likes other guys is demonized.

What was the immediate thoughts after Aaron Hernandez was arrested for murder?   It wasn't "Oh man, that sucks for Odin Lloyds family".... it was "How will the Patriots replace his production"  or "Damn, I was gonna keep him in my fantasy league this year".
