That has to be my all-time favorite....They usually have a stupid grin on their face as they say it.....as if they think you are exaggerating.

One time when it happened to me, it was with an ex-girlfriend who I intended on giving $500 to .....It went something like this.......

 

HER ;  How did you do at the casino?

ME ; Very well....I won $2300

HER ; Yeah...but how much did you lose? 

ME ; I didn't lose....I won $2300.

HER ; Yeah,I know but what did it cost you to win $2300? 

 

[ At this point I thought to myself.....This must be my lucky day because I just won another $500. ].....So I told her what it seemed she wanted to hear....

 

ME ;  I spent $2000 to win that $2300.

HER ; 

ME ;  X 500

2. "Might as well flip a coin, nobody could possibly predict this game."
3. "I used to gamble too, until I realized they always win in the end."
4. "Vegas knows more than you ever will."
5. "If I was a gambler/had the balls/wanted to I could easily pick one game a week and make a killing. XYZ team was a lock this week."

I don't even talk sports casual with my buddies, co-workers, people at the bar, etc. Most of the time they have no idea what they're talking about or I don't want to tip my hand that I obviously gamble and/or spend too much time caring about Tuesday night MAC conference games in October. 

At first it's cool to talk about casually when you get your feet wet with $50 three teamers through Tony at the bar. Not so much when you're betting nickels and dimes on halftime lines during a weekday. Nothing positive about discussing it at that point, regardless if the results are positive or negative.

 Exactly. We are not like them. They are 'fans' we are degenerates that do this strictly from a business standpoint. Nothing is of interest to me other than a particular game that I have scouted.
