I live here and can't wait to see how this works out!
What a bunch of hosers....who da kuk is that golfer anyway and no way he would have been +400 to lead anything...they got caught with a whammy and tried to weasel there way out of it...what will be key to his defense is what other books had the odds at for the same golfer to lead the first round...just based on the fact that who he is would make me think that the odds were accurate because it seems like a stretch that he would have been the clubhouse leader ever...
that's some bullshit and if he doesn't win then this is not right...I'm sure he'll win because +400 doesn't seem like right odds either....I bet they settle this for half the amount and the guy takes it because 20k is better than rolling the dice...
This is what I don't like about the books...errors, yes, but they posted the odds and were not forced to post them so you take the hit and move on...I hope anyone playing with Billy Hill takes note of this and how they will swindle you if you happen to win big....they'll gladly take your money but will put up a fuss if you hit big odds and claim is was incorrect odds....that's messed up

The guy is ranked 180+ in the DP World tour, which is a European tour group...he just started playing professionally last year...his world golf ranking is 287th....no way it was 400:1 odds but it might not have been 20,000:1 either for this podunk golf tourney...2000:1 might be a better guess given that this guy is a nobody and has won nothing... If you look at any first round odds for a player of that ranking to be leading any PGA tour event after the first round it would be awfully high....I would suspect closer to 5000:1 or more....
Either way though, if a book puts out a number they should be held accountable if someone places that bet....who knows when the odds were posted but I would bet it was posted a day or two before the event and the event took place over the course of an 5-8 hour day so why notify of the change of odds only after he wins versus during?
Bettors make mistakes all the time and you don't see them asking for their money back and that is because it is your responsibility as a bettor to check your tickets or be careful what you do online or at a kiosk...the book assumes no liability for your shitty mishandling but when the book makes an error they have a carve out to protect them...the problem is, they only call these up when they feel they had been wronged and have a huge payout...they had zero problem taking his $200 but paying out they find a glitch/error....this always gives them the edge to avoid paying out anything of large value and it sets a bad precedent....they set the line and didn't correct at the time the bet was placed so the contract was set between the two parties...had the bet lost they would not have refunded him his money for their error, so bite it and pay it...this will settle out for somewhere in the middle because I'm not sure that Billy Hill wants to be in front of the gaming commission to evaluate their practices....
As a bettor we all should be furious over this because this could happen to one of us...
