I am looking to open a fast food Italian take out restaurant. This take out spot will 100% mimic a “Chinese” take out joint.
I want to use pints & quarts, combination platters. Free can of soda over $20. Delivery within 20 mins. Everything exactly the same except Italian food.
Pasta will Ben precooked and many different sauces available to mix and match. Instead of an egg roll you’ll receive garlic bread.
Thoughts?

I don't know where you live but if you were out here on the west coast I would say go with a food truck first. Less of an investment and successful food trucks often lead to brick and mortar restaurants. Sounds good though.

You will have alot of Cultural Habits to overcome with the customer. How do you eat a pint of spagetti/meatballs out of a carton with chop-sticks?
I think he was referring to the size/style of the containers. I would imagine he would have forks. Either way, your comment about creating a culture, and the comment above, is why I said it would work on a food truck, and specifically out west. Food trucks are all about creating, and introducing, a culture. Giving people something either completely new, or an old favorite with a new spin. A lot of the fusion foods you've heard of started on food trucks. Also, as chaloots pointed out, most people in east coast cities have neighborhood spots to get good italian take out. Not quite the same on the west coast. This could be huge in cities like San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, ect. And like I said above, successful trucks usally lead to brick & mortars. Either way, good luck, bro. All I can say is location, location, location.

Yep, only difference is the pizza places serve pasta in a round tin with a plastic cover and he wants to use Chinese takeout boxes.
In Buffalo, we had an actual fast food Italian chain, with a drive-thru. It closed before I moved here 20 years ago, but DU must remember it.
Yeah we had a couple of those here , tried them..
... One had decent sauce and large portions .... They all went belly up within 6 months .... Wish i could remember their names ...
Not trying to rain on anyones parade , but this will not work.... Today the Hipsters, Millenials, house wives etc .. want low cal items like Rabbit food Meal preps ....

I'm telling you, it would work ouy here on the West Coast. Amongst the hipsters no less but you would have to take the food truck approach. I fon't know where Chris is based,(Brooklyn?) but here on the West Coast, in cities like Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, food trucks are huge. And they're all gimicky. And like I said, some are so successful they lead to multiple location brick & mortar restaurants.

I live in South Bend and don't think it would work in my type of area. Hahaha NOT THE GHETTO, middle class. Once in a while I order pasta from one of the pizza places and I regret it. Your problem is even lazy behind men like me can cook pasta and it is really easy to do. If you asked me to cook Chinese pasta I would have zero clue granted it is probably no different haha.
Pasta is just to easy to make.
