vanzack - how are you.... of all people, you are aware as to where i stand on this topic. in post #128 you asked sirjohndrake for "excuses" on verses. render your question for fact, not clarification, then you can have your proof. otherwise you base your debate on what you don't like instead of asking for evidence. you want an specific answer outside of faith, yet dont ask the correct question that present fact.
the single + only question you have ever asketh of myself concerning the scriptures of the bible was to prove noah's ark in your thread, remember. but was it a question? or rhetorical atheism from the bluffers guide to debunking christianity. this is not an easy story to swallow, but when i referenced the gospel it exposes the question as exploiting christianity. as the question gets transformed to: explain how can an unknown number of animals can be transported on a boat of unknown size, with the live stock cargo listed as two of every kind, not species. + the ark would not have required aquariums.
this question now is transformed a third time into the comment by the atheist, "you cant prove i'm wrong if you cant prove you are right."
in my opinion on the matter, the stalemate question is best answered by a team of three people. a naval or marine architect shipwright + two biologist (1 zoologist) for a educated assessment.
you ask why doesnt god heal the lame (amputee), though, praised as answering the prayers of cancer patients in circumstances of recovery.
if god intervenes with cancer patients to remove cancerous tumors, then god should also intervene with amputees to regenerate lost limbs, right?
in the condition of cancer, what is viewed as the mercy of god's divine intervention would have to be considered in most cases placebo prayers where perceived or actual improvement in a medical condition is a result of a phenomenon commonly called the placebo effect.
jesus said "for verily i say unto you, that whoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; + shall not doubt it in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatever he said." (mark 11:23)
"because of your unbelief; for verily i say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain , remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove ; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." (matthew 17:20)
though, this is not a generation who serve in great faith, but use church as more of a fast food drive-thru service to consuming the word of god into their lifestyle.
before looking at "amputees" lets raise the question, as the condition of loss of limbs are not vital to survival.
children are the most visible victims of undernutrition. children who are poorly nourished suffer up to 160 days of illness each year. poor nutrition plays a role in at least half of the 10.9 million child deaths each year.
undernutrition magnifies the effect of every disease, including measles + malaria. malnutrition can also be caused by diseases, such as the diseases that cause diarrhea, by reducing the body's ability to convert food into usable nutrients.
access to food in the third world is a privilege, not a right. so, what does jesus say unto to hungry.
jesus said; "it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of god." (matthew 4:4)
"whoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. (luke 17:33)
the question of amputees has a variety of answers depending on who's name the question is asked in.
in context to which you have done, i will reference jesus; "an evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; + there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet jonas." (matthew 12:39)
to translate a clear understanding why the lame are not targeted by the invisible hand of god can be found in three passages quoting jesus;
- "if the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you." (john 15:18)
- "can ye drink of the cup that i drink of? + be baptized with the baptism that i am baptised with." (matthew 10:39).
- "then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, + shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake: (matthew 24:9)
so, if it is the teachings of jesus that state to see the father, one must go through the son, who was subject to brutal treatment + hostile conditions, no one man can expect to walk in paradise in this world. what is important to man, is not to god.
jesus said unto his disciples, "if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me." (matthew 16:24)
not wear a gold chain with a pagan cross + expect to avoid walking in any of life's affliction.
the god of the christians is misinterpreted as begging to be recognised. this is a god with patience, not tolerance. a christian who questions god on the subject in matter would breaking the order of "thou shalt not tempt the lord thy god." (matthew 4:7)
asking why god does not heal amputees has an answer, though was it a loaded question that you knew could not provide the christian with a opportunity to provide fact, but instead a clarification.
asking if bin laden excepted jesus on his last days qualifies him for heaven has an answer..... but is it a question that is going to return an answer of fact, or have you chosen to remain in the realm of faith with the style of questions asked. what the bible states about homosexuals does not prove it authentic or false. but i bet you, vanzack, would endorse what god say's about homosexuals, in how to treat them.
vanzack, at your request i will return once more to this thread to present proof. i'm not going to walk into a religious warzone + contribute to this never ending story. if you are serious + not wasting my time by asking; "why christianity could be possibly be believable without faith," i will provide one logical example, + then call it a day.......
