1. Your mom tells you to steal.
2. Your dad commands you to kill someone.
3. You have to lie to honor the sabbath.
4. A starving person steals a loaf of bread (if he doesnt, he is not honoring the temple of god in the body)
Those are all 10 commandments based. There are literally hundreds more moral contradictions in the bible - BECAUSE THE BIBLE PRETENDS THAT MORALITY IS ABSOLUTE - and it cannot stick to its own rules.
But lets start with those.
A woman knocks on your door all bloody and says please help me....you let her in and call the police.....a few minutes later a man knocks on your door with a knife in his hand and asks if his wife is there......would you lie and say no?

a killer is on the streets and you're going to open the door?
i would say i didn't know where she was and save her life, a lie? given the situation shouldn't this be common sense? We are not saved by actions

Good mornin' everybody!...My Christian brothers & sisters, the irresolutors & the heathens!, how is everyone today on this fine, beautiful 7th day of June?...I'm fine myself thankyou!
Let me start today with the Lord's prayer. For you irresolutors & heathens, feel free to join in. Ok let's bow our heads and pray.
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen.----Matthew 6:9:13

The Book of Hosea
The author was Hosea, written around 715 B.C., recording events between 753 and 715 B.C.
The book of Hosea is a tragic love story with a happy ending. Hosea was a prophet to the northern kingdom of Israel before its fall in 722 B.C., and his ministry spanned some 40 years. He was a contemporary of Amos, Isaiah, and Micah. Hosea was called by God to find a wife, and so he married a woman named Gomer. After bearing three children to Hosea, Gomer became unfaithful, and the marriage was shattered. Hosea used this experience with Gomer to illustrate God's experience with Israel. The first halof of Hosea's book describes his marriage to Gomer, the birth of their children, and her act of unfaithfulness. The second half of the book draws lessons from this true story. Hosea warned of stern judgment for Israel's unfaithfulness, for Israel had turned to other gods just as Gomer had left Hosea for other men. In the end, however, Hosea urged Gomer to repent and receive forgiveness and restoration. Likewise, Israel would receive forgiveness and restoration if the people would return to God.

Why Were You BORN?
Is there PURPOSE for human life? Does life, after all, have real meaning? Here is the awesome truth!
Part 21 of 23. WHY ALL This Human Suffering?
There are just two broad principles of life---God's way, or God's law, summed up in the Ten Commandments, and Satan's way of competition, greed, vanity.
All suffering---all unhappiness, fear, misery, and death---has come from the transgression of God's law. Living by that great law of Love, then, is the only way to peace, happiness, and joy. God placed man on this planet to learn that lesson---to learn it through generations of experience.
Yes, we too learn by suffering. God has revealed the true way---his revelation is, though certainly most human beings have never read it, available to man. But man, given the right of free choice, always has turned his back on God, and God's true way. And even though man as a whole still refuses to see or learn the lesson, he has written this lesson indelibly in the history of human experience.
We learn through experience. And through suffering. This, then, is the very stuff of which character is made.
Once this godly character is developed in us, what shall we be like in the resurrection?
Already, now, in this life, the truly converted Christian, having God's Holy Spirit dwelling within, being led by God's Spirit, is a son of God. In prayer he calls God "Father."
Notice: "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be..." (1John 3:2).
What we shall be is not now apparent---does not now appear---is not yet seen. Continue, "...but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall [then] see him as he is." Our appearance, then, will be like that of Christ now.
And what does Christ look like, now?
His appearance is described in Revelation 1:14-16: "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters...and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength."

Alright, well that is an interesting response.
My first reaction was to tell you that the commandments are on a stone and not 1600 pages, but I will let that go in favor of.....
If it requires context, then that sure implies that morality is not ABSOLUTE as your buddy rostos says. One of the main discussions in this thread is the thought of absolute morality - but it seems to me that it cant exist if "context" is required to make case by case decisions.
Afterall, your interpretation of context might be different than someone elses.
My position is that morality is ALWAYS subjective, never absolute.
Thoughts?

i interpret that God sees the heart, man can not and therefore i find morality subjective from man to man and situation to situation
but since god can see the heart and God is perfect(IMO) and the word says god doesn't change.... it's not subjective to God, because he can see the heart

There are several factors why there are more Christians in American jails than atheists. Here's a few explanations:
1. The majority of Americans (76%) identify themselves as Christians, mostly within Protestant and Catholic denominations, accounting for 51% and 25% of the population respectively. Another 15% of the adult population identifies as having no religious belief or no religious affiliation.
2. American parole boards favor people who claim religious allegiance; so the incentive to claim to be Christian (or religious) is very high.
3. People who come from poor areas tend to also be more religious; people who come from poor areas also tend to commit more crimes. If you were to check out the stats for white-collar criminals from middle-to-upper class backgrounds, you'd find the percentage of atheists to be a significant degreee higher.
4. People facing adversity---such as being thrust into prison--have a strong tendency to convert to a religion as a means of coping with it.
Lastly I want to say that I agree with you that just believing in Jesus doesn't make you a better person but actually doing his will, will make you a better person and I know it's not easy because the power that sin has over us is very hard to break. It is a difficult task for everyone, theists and atheists alike. So I should have said to you one should believe in Jesus and doing his will which is to be righteous.
That's why Our Lord Savior Jesus Christ said, "You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. ---Matthew 7:13-14

just my opinion....
if evolution was what people think and we were able to evolve for billions of years and survived people wouldn't be starving to death today

Scientists must just want to jump off of every bridge they see.
Imagine understanding things at a greater level than almost everyone, and be charged with trying to educate the masses. You always feel like the only sane guy amongst millions of crazies.
Why do we wear clothes?
Jeesh.

Kat my opinion doesn't prove anything but we can both agree that man survive a long time w/o Wal-mart and Jack in the Box, I'd expect (IMO) man to have better survival skills than this. an animal will actually move to a different environment, yes animals starve but generation after generation like this? If we found a way to reproduce for millions of years w/o sex organs, food shouldn't be a problem billions of years later.

Again, you are blurring the lines here.
When you wake up in the morning, are YOU FORCED IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM TO DO EVIL AND WICKED THINGS.
LET ME PUT IT ANOTHER WAY, IS IT PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO LIVE A DAY WITHOUT SINNING?
IS IT PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU NOT TO STEAL, MURDER, LIE, COMMIT ADULTERY, BE JELOUS etc etc.
Just a yes or no.
Dont answer the question, with another question, just a yes or a no
