Took my son's to see the Planet of the Apes yesterday. Its not often I go to the movies anymore. Its maybe a once or twice year thing but I was just shocked at the price. First, I didn't read the fine print. The 4pm showing was in HD XD MRI X-ray 3D image and priced accordingly. $40 for 1 adult and 2 children!
I had to step back for a second out of the line to think about it. We can wait for the 5pm show for regular admission. The net difference would have been $16 for that one hours wasted time. It wasn't worth it so I just dropped the $40. Im just curious how far we are from a flat $20 per person show.

When I worked at a theater between 1996-98 the prices started at $4.25 and went up to $6.75 by the time I left. The theaters actually only make pennies on a movie ticket. All the money they make is from concessions. The only time I go to a movie anymore is during matinee times (usually around $5-6) and I have never paid to see something in 3-D.

I have only ever seen the 2D movies in the theatres. Is the overall 3D experience worth it in comparison, for someone who has not seen 3D in a theatre before? I think I would like to try it out at least once, but i don't go to the movies much.
Oh, and anytime I go to the movies which is about once every couple years, I always buy my snacks from a store beforehand. Big money saver but, I don't buy pop. Nothing more annoying than hearing 25 pop cans open 10 minutes in. I guess I'm not helping the theatres if they don't make much on tickets.

garbage call me a scumbag , but I still wait for people to leave the thearter thru the back door and enter .. Free as always .. Gotta love a misspent youth.. Still have all the tricks.. Goto the dollar store and pic up mad candy .. Cost of movie with candy 4 dollars ... Always outsmart what you are working with.. That is the name of the game..
My son asked me why we goto the back, I told him because daddy has mad juice... He laughed.. If someone stopped me coming in , I would just say we were leaving and my son had to goto the bathroom.. But I do not recommend doing any of this , but I never pay retail.. Besides did you ever see the kids that work at the movies, they are all retards working for 7.25 and hour... They just want to go home and play D&D and paint more black on there face ...

I'm gonna spin this off for another topic thread if you don't mind, but this practice of yours has been deployed countless times. You nailed the enter scene with you imagery. That is exactly how it is.
When questioned a quick "I've already been inside I needed my medicine. And beak from any eye contact and dart in the direction of your destination.
On several occasions I'd buy my date a ticket, and ask that I meet her inside while I worked my magic. Oh gags a fun practice. Next movie I'm relieving my youth!

Thank you Dutch, for that.

Biz, we are already at $20 per person a show!
I have a theater near me that offers pre-assigned seating and lazy boy chairs (amazingly comfortable). They also give you a menu to order from and deliver it right to your chair (the food is not great but it is better than standard theater food you pick up from a counter).
If you watch a 3D movie in that theater?
$21.50

I know a local woman who inherited a 3 screen movie theatre and she plays independant/second-run films. She told me that 1st run films cost 50-75% of every ticket sold if she were to contract to play them(planet of the apes). She couldn't stay open with that bite and she also said that throughout the business concessions are where they make their nut.

Although a bit cheesy, I found the movie to be very good. I was a fan of the old school Planet of the Apes series so my take is from fan of the franchise.
I would say its worthy of a viewing and despite the high price I did enjoy the sound quality and the overall quality of the film.

i dont sneak in too often but i am notorious for sneaking in food and drinks with me. I used to smuggle 12packs of beer and just hold a sweatshirt over it between my arm and give the ticket and walk right in. KFC buckets, etc. No matter what I always have at least a soda and a bag of candy in my pockets. In arizona one time I was running late and in nothing but a bathing suit with mesh underwear and a tshirt. I decided to buy in an out triple cheeseburger and sneak in with it. I had to no other option but to put the bag in my mesh underwear. Right when i got up the give the punk kid my ticket the bag seeped out of my mesh right on the ground beneath me.The kid just laughed bc he'd never seen that before i guess and i picked it up and walked right in.

There is an AMC by me and they let these handicapped people accept the tickets and senior citizens which is a great thing. Obviously it would be easy to sneak in stuff or not even pay and walk right past them but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night screwing them over. Management might say it's not worth it because they can't handle it and getting us ripped off.

My old lady carries a cooler that looks like a purse. We dont go that often, and I'm not usually cheap, but its more of the principle. Yeah I want popcorn or candy and a soda with my movie....but I aint paying 5-10x what they cost 30 seconds away.
Also, when we used to go see movies more often, I would line up the times so when one movie was over, another was beginning we could walk into. Nobody ever says anything. Like guys said before, the workers there really dont care and arent security.
Redbox is still the way to go.

Hard to undertand the mentality of sneaking. All of the guys that say they do it also say they bet 1K a game.
