take it seriously. Aside from the people who compete in poker tournaments, there are really thos who are professional gamblers and make casinos their source of income. lol most of them dont look like athletes haha.
Sports books are in casinos. To say "casinos are their source of income" is not to say slots and table games. It also can include the sportsbook in the casino

MGM currently has Memphis to win division at -400. They were at -1000 before Adams got injured and Dallas added Kyrie. Adams is coming back after the all star break and Kyrie and Luca together are now 0-3.
They haven't won a game together yet, but still at 6 games back with about 20 to go, the Memphis line remains at -400, the overreaction to the Kyrie trade. The line remains out of whack because few players will pound a massive +EV if they have to wait a month on the payout.
The Grizzlies have >99% chance to win division. But even assuming Dallas has a 10% chance to win this play returns 11.25% in a month, which compounds to a 202.77% annual return. And there is no way Dallas has a 10% chance, so the return is far greater.
Professional Gamblers pound the hell out of lines like that.
Most gamblers won't, because they want to bet their $50 or $200 bankroll on their favorite play today. I have actually had bettors tell me, " why TF would I bet a -400 future. I'm going to double up and get paid tonight"
And yes if someone only has 100, I can see why they would think it's not worth it to make $25. The bankroll has to be built up a little first, by working and NOT gambling for a while. Then you see it differently
So yes there are definitely pro gamblers and the return is amazing. 99% of gamblers won't ever be because you can't be throwing your bankroll all on tonight's games which is what most people want to do
