Yeah, Leroy's were quite popular in Vegas too, I remember them at the Fitzgeralds on Fremont Street and in Binion's Horseshoe as well. They were bought out/taken over by William Hill at the time. Now William Hill has been purchased by Caesars Entertainment...the money keeps flowing!

Leroys was a stand-alone bookie joint a block south of Fremont. In the 80s the owner,Vic Salerno became the Head of the Bookmakers Guild and thought he could innovate. He introduced the computerized bet slip(before everything was hand-written) and got the great idea that all the bet shops would be linked as to their lines and offerings. What resulted was a book like the Del Mar downtown might change the line on a Monday Night Football game from 7 to 7.5 without taking any action on the game but just monitoring what the number change might be at the Stardust. This resulted in a Homoginizing of #s and levelling of exsposure for all bookies.
In a Word, Fcuk You Leroys and Vic Salerno.
