Snapple bottle cap fact of the day

Wifey is on a Diet Snapple kick.  3 or 4 bottles a day.  So I'm bringing you only the very best.  Just once a day.

1) In South Korea it is against the rules for a professional baseball player to wear cabbage leaves under his hat.

Any guesses why?

Maybe you can use it to alter the ball. Old spitball kind of shit.

Haven't drank Snapple in years but used to love the facts under the cap.

Answer:  A pitcher stuffed a couple frozen cabbage leaves under his cap to cool himself down.  The authorities deemed it a "foreign substance".

2) The oldest living animal ever found was a 405-year-old clam, named Ming by researchers.

The clam was initially named Ming by Sunday Times journalists, in reference to the Ming dynasty, during which it was born.

The clam was dredged off the northern coast of Iceland in 2006. In 2007, on the basis of counting the annual growth bands on the cross-sectional surface of the hinge region of the shell, researchers announced that the clam was 405 years old.  The mollusc’s long life came to an end in 2006 when British researchers – unaware of the animal’s exceptional age – opened up its shell to examine it.  It was later determined to be 507-years-old.

Over 1 million Earths would fit inside the Sun.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this fact.  Just when I that I couldn't feel any smaller.  Kind of puts things into perspective.  We humans are so insignificant in the scheme of the Universe.

Over 3.5 BILLION suns would fit inside UY Scuti.

9.3 BILLION suns would fit in VY Canis Majoris.

wow! i didn't know that. i do know that the earth travels at 66,000 mph around the sun. a day on venus is 243 earth days and a year is 225 earth days.

4) Pluto takes 248 years to orbit the Sun.

So, NONE of us humans on Earth are even close to a half year old according to Pluto years.  Cool.

5) America's first Roller Coaster was built in 1827 to carry coal from a mine to boats below.

I would guess Yugoslavia is one. Can't even think of three countries that don't exist anymore. East Germany? Is USSR is one, i'm calling foul.
