Also, like I mentioned before......living and dealing with his problems would have been the manly/ballsy thing to do.  Killing yourself, especially putting other people in harms way, is very cowardly.  Also, he put himself all over the news.........that makes it how much worse for his family to have to deal with?

And I don't know much about physics but is freefalling from that height that much different than a skydiver freefalling for awhile? They don't have heart attacks. No idea if gravity has that much of a different effect or not.

Suicide is both spontaneous and an extreme act of control. This young man had no regard for anybody below him as Pez noted. Nobody was hit thank god.

I've thought about suicide before... not because of any depressed thoughts or anything but simply because I struggle with the 'meaning of life'. It's hard to come to grips with your mortality without finding a purpose for your life... when I fail to find an answer, it seems pointless to keep drudging on.

But I'm a box and could never do it/I'm not giving up on finding my meaning.

Next time you feel this way, just think of how this cowardly act will make those who care about you feel.  I hope you do not have a wife or kids and entertain these thoughts.  Assuming you don't, think of your parents, siblings, friends, etc.

In my opinion, the "meaning of life" is that you only get one chance to live on this earth.  Enjoy it as much as you can.  Make it as enjoyable as you can for others around you.
