Almost all hospitals receive federal funds and are required to have some free care for cancer and reduced cost services available. These services are targeted for those who have no health insurance, have cancer, and aren't eligible for medicaid or medicare. Check with the financial services dept at the hospital...and ask to apply for free care.

Stop listening to Maxine Waters and that progressive b.s.

No health plan will make everyone happy.  If you want good Healthcare,  do what successful people do... go work 2 jobs while going to school.  18 hour days non stop.  You'll get your Healthcare.

I'm not interested in people who rather have cable TV and lease a range Rover, and skip on health care.   I want the government out of my life... I can run my life fine.  I don't need a government 20 trillion in debt handling my Healthcare, thanks.

Bottom line is Kimmel speech went awry when he mentioned Trump.  If Obamacare was so good the Dems would not have lost over a thousand seats, and chambers of congress... give ,each a break.

And personally I don't care about lazy people who don't have insurance... they are 99% covered somehow.  The rare 1 percent has a choice... do into debt or die, up to them... life is unfair.

Privately-owned hospitals may turn away patients in a non-emergency, but public hospitals cannot refuse care. Public hospitals, funded by taxpayer dollars, are held to a different standard than privately owned for-profit hospitals. This means that a public hospital is the best option for those without health insurance or the means to pay for care.

Almost every hospital in the U.S. is required by law to provide necessary emergency medical treatment to anyone - with or without insurance coverage.

If you have a massive headache, you collapse, rushed to hospital, by law they must help you.  They see you have a brain tumor, they must operate.  The overwhelming majority of cases will be covered by medicare, medicaid, or free care.  If somehow none apply to you... go into debt or die.

Once again, more hysterics and scare tactics by the left.  Trump might cut a little funding to the E.P.A. and now the left talk radio has him dumping garbage in the Colorado River and drinking reservoirs.   Give me a break.  According to Al Gore the earth became uninhabitable in 2008.  We're still here.

    "the left talk radio"

Please enlighten me as to who, exactly, are these hosts.

All I hear is Limbaugh, Hannity, Kilmead, Savage, Ingraham, Beck, etc.

Goose, I think I see the problem right there ...

If you're listening to the radio and not listening to music, clearly you need to smoke more weed.

If you're listening to the radio and not listening to music, clearly you need to smoke more weed.

"some free care for cancer".  awesome, that should cover the hundreds and hundreds of diseases children and others might get for which they need life saving treatment that aren't ER emergencies.

i have no idea what maxine waters has to do with this, other than you picking out some person you don't like, injecting her into the discussion to try and bolster your argument in a completely illogical way, but i will post this article in response to your original post, which, as doubleup points out, is truly insane.

it's a little dated, but given the downward trajectory of our health system, i doubt things have gotten better, but you won't see maxine waters quoted in this article.  you will see sources such as harvard medical school, the american journal of public health, cambridge health alliance and the cdc.  in other words, what you call progressive bs.    maybe noted medical and insurance experts at infowars, fox news and the daily stormer have different views tho.

Imagine your child being born needing a medication that costs 100k a year.  Now imagine that this newborn, because he is born with a pre-existing condition will at the very least suffer a great deal under your privileged only healthcare system - and at worst you will be bankrupt and the kid will suffer.

Now try to answer Goose's question.  How would it feel?

All of this is true vanzack. We all want everyone to be covered to avoid the scenario you lay out.  The problem is it seems to be a right if you can't afford it and a pro ledge if you can.  For instance real quick I have a job working 40-50 hours a week.  It's a decent job. I don't hate it but it's still work.  It allows me to own a house and pay for my health insurance.  After all the bills and bla bla I'll have 100-200 bucks a week in spendin money.  Groceries fun bla bla.
My roommates work part time.  One atte YMCA the other landscaping.   Jobs that are considerable more fun and less responsibility than mine.  One of them is gifted kck behind coverage from mass health.  Way better than mine.  The other is subsidized so much he hardly pays anything.  Leaving them w around 200 spending
Money every week.     We come from the same neighborhood w similar families and similar  level of education from schools with similar prestige .
So what gives here.  Is it a right for then and a prvledge for me?  These r my boys and I want then covered no doubt.  But I'm grinding my behind off for the same of worse coverage than my boys who r lazying it up.

Regardless of how anyone feels about the political sh1t show that is our health care dilemma, Kimmel, a noted liberal, used his baby's health as a pawn to make a political statement.

Contrary to what some would have you believe, no one wants babies to die because they are not given health care. Of course the MSM now claims that republicans are killing millions of innocents because the republicans don't want the poor to get health treatment.

10 years ago this was not a political issue, was not talked about in the press, and no one was crying on a television talk show about it.

No reasonable person wants to deny healthcare for anyone. We all agree that healthcare should be affordable for 100% of this countries citizens. How we get to that point is the issue.

Obamacare was not working, and was not financially sustainable.
I repeat ... Obamacare was not working and was not financially sustainable.

It is not the fault of the Dems or Repubs that Obamacare doesn't work.

I remember during the election campaign last year when Ted Cruz went on and on about repealing up every word of obamacare, i saw a town hall of his when a lady with cerebral palsy who has trouble talking very bravely and eloquently asked him what would happen to her and her pre-existing condition if obamacare was repealed.

He went on a stupid spiel about how "market forces" would provide coverage for her, she rightly rebutted that she is routinely denied coverage and has always had to pay out of pocket. At that point, the moderator conveniently moved onto the next question.

This is the only country in the world where healthcare is a product, why is it treated like car insurance? You have the option of driving without full coverage but you can't live for very long if god forbid you have a hole in your heart or have advanced cancer.
