Moved here from Baltimore 10 years ago. I haven't thought 10 seconds about going back. Lived in Scottsdale for 1 year, then Gilbert and now Chandler. It's quite hot in July and August. That leaves 10 other months, 8 of them the weather is perfect. Right now the job market is bad but you can steal a house, they're almost giving them away. I helped my best friend move out of a 3,000 sq foot house in Scottsdale yesterday that he built for $630K for in 2006. When he moved in it was appraised for $925K. He just sold it on a short sale for $485K.

Another friend of mine has 4,000 sq foot house in Johnson Ranch. He paid $285K in 2005. The bank approved taking $125K on a short sale. It's got a built-in pool too.

If you can get a job out here, I'd highly recommend the Phoenix/Scottsdale market. At the end of the day the weather and women are outstanding out here. And if you golf, fuckingfugettaboutit. It's the Mecca of golf, 230 courses in this area.

ok weather is good from Octoberish to Aprilish... Last 3 years Nov has still gotten into the 100's daily...

may through sept is 114 all day and 108 at nite... So you wake up and its still fuckin' hot...

Now if you golf then ur in paradise because its everywhere.. Summer its cheap as hell and winter is way over priced.. Anyone that would pay $200 bills to play golf is nuts...

Yes everywhere is except scottsdale seems to be majority hispanic and growing.. And alot of them speak no english..

Job market sucks for sure, unless you can sell, Housing prices are crazy and u can get smoking deals right now..

Overall been here 13 years and its gotten worse every year...

Chandler is the best area to live...

that "dry heat" people speak of ---- that shit is still hot!!!,,,,i was there may - december........i think my first day there it was 117 degrees.....the place was just very brown for my liking (no dummies---not brown people),,,i was coming from living in denver for 3 years and i was used to having a different landscape around me and the 2 couldn&#x27;t really compare for my liking..my other issue was that i was working with about 80% spanish speaking people and it sucks when you don&#x27;t speak the language....nbafan is right about the girls though----beautiful girls around there---BEAUTFUL,,,and a nice little college scene around tempe,,,for a big city---phoenix has a very weak downtown area,,,,,and i don&#x27;t really play golf--so couldn&#x27;t take advantage of the beautiful courses,,,,,it should also be said that i was pretty fucking bitter about having to transfer from denver so that probably played a role in my arizona experience as well...............

I lived there for nearly ten years and really liked it. I&#x27;m moving back someday. If you don&#x27;t like heat, Phoenix isn&#x27;t for you. If you don&#x27;t mind the hot weather then it&#x27;s a damn nice place to live. You&#x27;re not too far from the mountains, the beach and Las Vegas. There is some magnificent scenery all around the Southwest and lots of opportunities for someone who likes the outdoors. If you like sunny days about 340 days a year then it&#x27;s not a bad spot. Plenty to do. I think it&#x27;s a great spot to live.

Only issues I had with the Valley of the sun were that nightclubs seemed to do last call at 12:35 am, being from Chicago I&#x27;m not used to last call till 3am.

Pretty accurate statements except for 117 in May, or 108 at night. I've been here 10 years, never has it been that hot in May or that hot at night. Even during July/August the hottest temp I remember at night was 103 at 11pm. May's not a problem. The real heat starts in mid-June and doesn't back-off until mid September. The nights are fine in May and late September. In addition you body does adjust to this climate. Naturally, if you're from Alaska the adjustment is more extreme. Being from the East Coast, it's a dream getting away from humidity.

I forgot about the Vegas advantage. 300 miles away (from Chandler) 5 hours in a car. When the Hoover Dam bypass is completed it'll be awesome. As far as the Hispanic population goes. It's large but the good news is unlike other cities it's quite segregated. The west side is where most of the problems you hear in the news. I'll leave it up to you all to take a wild guess as to why.

Also, we finally have a REAL football team and an awesome stadium. I had season tickets last year and other than it being 50 miles from my house, going to games now is a blast.
