I know you've mentioned that you make money in a variety of ways, buying and selling, etc., but if you are set up with those 3 books, what makes you feel you couldn't be profitable with a segment or two of your gambling. Is the liquidity not there? I haven't even looked at Matchbook since they fled the US.
So many reasons. A true marketplace includes lots of squares that dictate lines and line moves - there are not many squares left. Lines are sharp. Money movement is non-existent. Its basically down to trying to beat pinnacles line.

I always figured it must be more stressful being a pro gambler than a recreational punter like most of us are here, as you tend to bet a lot more when you're pro (and also don't forget having to deduct your rent/mortgage,food,clothing etc from your winnings). It must be real pressure looking at odds/lines on games week in week out knowing you HAVE to win in order to make a living.
btw .. More info on Vanzack in this thread here everybody
It can be stressful. But so can cleaning toilets or teaching school. Im not complaining.

i got into real estate when the market crashed ... buying, renting, selling ... people told me it was going to be stressful ... being fucking broke is stressful. that always killed me when they'd say that.

A market is a price set by the marketplace. A line is determined by all people willing to wager on one side or the other.
What happens when you suddenly remove half of that marketplace? Does you strategy still work when half (a specific half, not a random half) is suddenly removed from the equation?
I have to wait and see. In a free and truly open market I feel I have an edge, but this is not an open market - and I dont have the risk tolerance to find out with my money at risk.

Let me explain that a little clearer:

There are a couple of layers of stress - one is being able to eat and pay rent, and then there is stress over happiness and things you want. I try not to forget the difference.

I agree. I only bet real money on soccer right now. Football will probably be a pass this year - which is unbelievable for me to say. I am willing to wait it out - but I have no insight in to why it will get better other than my own feeling that it seems impossible that money wont drive the situation for those in charge.
It does seem pointless, and I am bored a lot. My balances at books is laughably low. But I do have the infrastructure in place to bet at pinnacle mb and betfair - but honestly - I have said it before and I will say it again - I am not a good enough capper to be a "crystal ball" guy - I make money through all kinds of ways - and all of those ways require a true open marketplace with free movement of money - which isnt available right now.
I have a good friend who just moved to the States and he ran a "Proper" book at Betfair for golf tournaments. Betting and laying different players from the the day lines came out till the last putt was holed. He would win between 1k and 5k on just about everyone.(Had a few guys to just break even) But also had a few guys where he could win 250k.(Ig I ever saw aguy shoot like 31 on the back to win on Sunday I knew he was killing it. But like you said had to freely move money and have a ton of cash in his account. I cant wait till the US has a book with as much liquidity as Betfair.

since money is important in a relationship let alone a marriage, you must have one understanding lady by your side. congrats...
im curious how you made this wrkout? jugglin relationship george and independent george in the same life?
in all seriousness, howd ya do it?
I was an independent guy cappin this past decade pretty much. 34 now, tried to do the relationship thing with a young twenties single mom off and on the past two yrs. Just didn’t wrkout. and i adore her lil girl too. not fun to miss a kid. She didn’t mind the gambling aspect of the j.o.b. just that it took a lot of my time up from her, especially after she was off of wrk because my wrk would just begin. i do lots of hmwrk before game time but watching the games is necessary for me to continue success at this as well.
how do you survive the burnt out feeling van?
the game has been catchin up to me. cud be lookin for possible other avenues of investments or just a whole new path.. i dont have the family like you. just myself...now......dont want to end up like sydney in the movie hard eight tho...
the whole gig is tiresome has been for a so many yrs now. especially as you age...plus i took it hard in the first quarter this yr dealing with personal drama. Been slowly recovering the bankroll. i relate the solo hcapper lifestyle to what salty was describing with his golf playing days on the road. being in a hotel rm, even if its suite, after yrs with no one in your world but your bank roll the sh*t does all get old...
when dealers and the guys behind the counter are your most consistent interaction with others for mths at a time...it gets old. weird to walk around casinos and see the same dealers for a decade...you begin feeling like youre an employee there...
the perks of being a high enuf vip member tho is cool sh*t...but been there done that. Plus im too conservative with money so not high rollin crazy like to get the d*ck suckin vip status everywhere. and even that would get old...but would be fun to experience until it does..
just ventin and ramblin. you gave a great read up and decided to bs my sh*t for a bit.
much props van for maintaining both ways of life and doin life like ol blue eyes sang it...doin life my way...

I just don't know what to believe about this vanzack character. His profile page shows that he has been a member since 2001, age 18-20, occupation as government and he posts a thread claiming that he has been gambling for 10 yrs which started in the year 2000 after he quits his job as an executive at a large electronics firm.
So was he 17 yrs old when he quit his lucrative executive job at a large electronics firm in 2000? What happened to his government job?
If he says he's been gambling for 10 yrs, then he started in 2001 and not 2000. I tell ya some guys just can't get their numbers right.
There is 1of 4 possibilities here:
1. His profile page is full of lies and his story is full of lies.
2. His profile page is full of lies and his story is true.
3. His profile page is true and his story is full of lies.
4. His profile page is true and his story is true.
I just have a feeling that it can't be that his profile page is true along with his story to be true because if that was the case it would mean that he was only 17 yrs. old when he was an executive at a large electronics firm...lol
Knowing van, he'll say his profile page is full of lies but his story is true...lol
I more inclined to believe his profile page is true but his story is full of lies.
Maybe tomorrow he'll start a thread titled: "Today's thoughts of a lying gambler."

The only way you can believe his story is for you to have faith that he is telling us the truth, as he hasnt given us any ounce of evidence.
But i thought faith is just restricted to religious nuts? believeing in something we have no proof in, yet he wants us to believe in his story.
No bashing here at all. Just want some consistency based on some of the things that he wrote in the other thread titled "Post your tough questions regarding Christianity".

Obviously you don't have to answer this, but can you explain what (for a serious professional gambler) the incentives are for moving out of the states?
