Do you know why people who go to Ivy League schools tend to get higher paying, more sought after jobs? Two main reasons would be nepotism and networking.
If you were to interview for a job with a Fortune 500 company, and the postion for which you were applying was going to be filled by you or one other candidate who had attended Notre Dame, the chances that one of the people from that company being a Notre Dame alum is pretty good, and that person would push for "his guy", which is a form of nepotism.
As for networking ... for people who attend more prestigious colleges, they make many friends while in school. Some of those friends will get great jobs because of what was stated in the paragraph above. There are endless business opportunities created by who you know, as opposed to what yu know or where you get your degree.
Bottom line is that for most people, paying the huge tuition at a prestigious college is well worth it.
First of all, online education isn't cheap; second of all, reference my above post, a lot of people take online classes because THEY ALREADY WORK, but want to further their education. Some are already married w/children. Are they supposed to stop working and supporting their families?
Are all of you people so old and out of touch that you don't understand what is going on these days education wise?
You all sound like a bunch of bitter dinosaurs. Wow. lol

I am 31, not out of touch and understand both sides. Grego is telling you how it is. You don't have to like it. He owns his own company or is in HR obviously. When two "evenly" qualified candidates are there to fill a position, he told you how he and probably LOTS of other people view the 2 educations...

well, just because they view it a certain way, doesn't mean that their view is correct...the only reason (generally) why they choose to view it that way is that they are biased (and jealous) aganist someone who did not take the same path that they did.
My reply to them is:
trust me i'm (we) are just as smart and competent as you are..... if not more) ( and drug free too!)
You lose.

To all those reading this thread and deciding if you should hire an "online" graduate or a "traditional" graduate, I leave "skipper" as Exhibit A and rest my case.... I could not present a better case as to the difference.
I leave you will one helpful hint from an "oldtimer". In this high tech world we live in almost all hiring is moving to an online application process. The process involves scanning applications and assigning scores to them. Let me just say online Universities do not do so well. (The fact that you feel you need to defend your degree should tell you something.) Just saying...
